Campus Safety Log: March 5-11

March 5

4:00 p.m. WELL-BEING CHECK, Administrative Services, Campus Safety responded to a request to check on the well-being of a student.

March 6

No incidents were reported.

March 7

6:40 p.m. DISTURBANCE, Longden House. Campus Safety responded to a dispute between students.

March 8

11:30 a.m. FIRE ALARM, International House. The Galesburg Fire and Police Departments and Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by steam from a shower.

8:00 p.m. FIRE ALARM, Seymour Hall. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a room detector. Cigarette smoke is the probable cause for the activation.

8:10 p.m. CANNABIS VIOLATION, Seymour Hall. Cannabis was found when a room was checked during a fire alarm.

8:50 p.m. NOISE, 240 W. Tompkins. Campus Safety responded to a complaint of loud subjects.

10:50 p.m. NOISE, 240 W. Tompkins. Campus Safety responded to a report of loud music.

11:00 p.m. NOISE, 240 W. Tompkins. Campus Safety responded to a report of loud music.

March 9

12:45 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Sellew House. The Galesburg Fire and Police Departments and Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by heat from a lamp. Safety violations were reported for covered detectors.

1:10 a.m. ALCOHOL VIOLATION, Simonds Hall. Campus Safety Officers responding to a noise complaint found evidence of a “beer pong” type game in progress.

1:20 a.m. MISCHIEVIOUS CONDUCT, TKE House. Campus Safety responded to a report of subjects on the back deck watching people use the second floor restroom through a frosted window.

10:20 p.m. INTOXICATED SUBJECT, Main Campus Grounds. Campus Safety responded to a report of a disabled vehicle and found out a Galesburg resident had taken prescription medication and was not able to operate the vehicle. The Galesburg Police Department was called and the vehicle was towed.

March 10

7:00 a.m. BURGLARY, Knox Warehouse. The Knox Warehouse was broken into and a digital camera, a Craftsmen tool set, a Dewalt Drill, in addition to other items, were stolen.

8:07 p.m. WELL-BEING CHECK, Seymour Hall. Campus Safety responded to a request to check on the well-being of a student.

March 11

1:15 a.m. WELL-BEING CHECK, Seymour Hall. Campus Safety responded to a request to check on the well-being of a student.

2:40 a.m. CRIMINAL DAMAGE, Raub House. The glass in the entrance door was broken.

12:05 p.m. SAFETY CONCERN/HAZARD, Neal House. Unsafe chemicals were confiscated from students’ rooms.

5:54 p.m. FIRE ALARM, Sigma Nu House. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by burned food.

9:35 p.m. TROUBLE ALARM, TKE House. The Public Safety Building reported line trouble in fire alarm system.

10:30 p.m. INFORMATION, Gizmo. Campus Safety responded to a report of an older white male asking for food at the counter. The subject had left by the time officers arrived.

The Campus Safety Log contains all incidents reported by Campus Safety officers during the past week. This log is a public record. The Director of Campus Safety reserves the right to withhold certain information temporarily in rare cases where publication would, for instance, jeopardize an ongoing investigation or the confidentiality of a victim. Times shown are when the incidents were reported to Campus Safety.
