Campus Safety Log: May 2-8

May 1

6:32 a.m. PARAPHERNALIA, Raub House. A glass pipe and substance believed to be cannabis was confiscated from students. The matter was reported to the Office of Student Development.

7:20 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Conger Hall. The Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by a pull station and a fire extinguisher was discharged. No smoke or fire was present.

7:30 a.m. MISCHIEVIOUS CONDUCT, Neal House. A student’s room was trashed by an unidentified male.

8:00 a.m. ALCOHOL VIOLATION, Seymour Hall. A student with opened alcohol was reported by Campus Life. The matter was reported to the Office of Student Development.

9:10 a.m. CRIMINAL DAMAGE, Simonds House. The entrance door glass was reported broken.

12:00 p.m. MISCHIEVIOUS CONDUCT, Main Campus Grounds. A student was observed urinating behind a tree. The matter was reported to the Office of Student Development.

12:30 p.m. ALCOHOL VIOLATION, Main Campus Grounds. Open alcohol was confiscated from various locations on campus. The matter was reported to the Office of Student Development.

1:05 p.m. SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT, Post Hall. A strong cigarette smoke odor was noted in a suite common area during a safety check.

2:50 p.m. MEDICAL, Main Campus Grounds. A student received minor injuries at the “Human Bowling” event.

3:15 p.m. SAFETY CONCERN/HAZARD, Seymour Hall. A Campus Safety Officer observed two students on the roof of Seymour Hall. The matter was reported to the Office of Student Development.

4:45 p.m. MISCHIEVIOUS CONDUCT, Main Campus Grounds. Campus Safety responded to a report of a possible fight. The two students were wrestling but said they were only playing around.

8:30 p.m. SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT, Main Campus Grounds. A female student reported being approached by a suspicious male near the concert during flunk day. The subject was asked to leave and returned. The Galesburg Police Department was called to investigate.

9:20 p.m. THEFT, Old Main. The band reported that an amplifier cover had been taken, which was later recovered and returned.

May 2

No incidents were reported.

May 3

1:25 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Seymour Hall. The Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a pull station. No smoke or fire was present in the building.

10:00 a.m. THEFT, Seymour Hall. A custodian reported that a yellow upright vacuum was taken from a hallway.

May 4

2:55 a.m. ATTEMPTED BURGLARY, Seymour Hall. Student arrested for attempted burglary to the mailroom. The matter was reported to the Office of Student Development.

3:30 a.m. WELL-BEING CHECK, Neifert Hall. Campus Safety checked on the well-being of a student. The matter was reported to the Office of Student Development.

10:00 a.m. UNSECURED DOORS/BUILDING, Seymour Hall. Campus Safety received a report of a door that was not secured from a staff member.

May 5

6:20 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Furrow House. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a room detector. No apparent cause was found for the activation.

5:30 p.m. CRIMINAL TRESPASS, 516 S. West. The Galesburg Police Department and Campus Safety responded to the area behind the house where several juveniles were playing basketball.

May 6

3:10 a.m. ANIMAL COMPLAINT, Hamblin Hall. Campus Safety assisted in removing a bird from an apartment.

8:00 a.m. FIRE ALARM, 516 S. West. The Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by steam from a shower.
