Lindsey Snyder joins theatre department

Lindsey Snyder, Instructor of Theatre, is new to Knox this term, but she fits right in to our “small, open-minded community,” an atmosphere where Snyder says she feels most at home. She received her B.A. from New York University and her M.A. from King’s College-London. When asked what brought her to Knox, Snyder replied, “a fourteen hour car trip.”

This term she’s teaching Beginning Acting and Introduction to Drama and Theatre, and in winter, she will be supervising the combination of class and performance, “Beyond the Fourth Wall,” a devised piece of theatre created by Knox students without the basis of a script and presented at the end of the ten week course.

“The key is who’s in the class,” said Snyder in answer to what the course will be like. Snyder brings her experience with Performance Studies and Melodrama, her interdisciplinary background, and her Certification in American Sign Language to the Knox community. Her dissertation concerns translating Shakespeare into ASL, a feat commensurate to the high standards Knox continues to achieve and surpass. Snyder is a welcome addition to this legacy.
