Letter to the Editor: Headline shocking, painful

I am hurt and shocked by the headline so tastelessly penned by the editorial staff of The Knox Student regarding the victorious volleyball team. I congratulate the volleyball team and their coach on the victory, but that’s where my enthusiasm ends.

When I was in high school and dating Tim, I endured juvenile banter about his name. That all ended when we came to Knox. But that was then and this is now.

How does one belittle the loving donations by generous Knox alumni to enhance student life by spending millions of dollars on a beautifully renovated Memorial Gym? Mr. and Mrs. Petrovich and Mr. and Mrs. Anderson, among others, poured a great deal of their hard-earned dollars into this state-of-the-art facility, and then, in a sincere act of friendship, asked that it be named in honor of Coach Tim Heimann. I am truly grateful to them for that gesture.

I have always been proud to be Mrs. Tim Heimann. Despite your crude headline, I shall remain proud.

In the spirit of veritas,

Catherine Heimann
