Campus Safety Log: Oct. 1-8

October 1

1:12 pm INFORMATION, Main Campus Grounds. Galesburg resident reported receiving suspicious phone calls from campus phone.

5:20 pm FOUND PROPERTY, Hamblin Hall. A suspicious incident was reported to Campus Safety.

7:59 pm MISCHIEVIOUS CONDUCT, 265 S. Academy. The building exterior was written on with chalk. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

INFORMATION, TKE House. A dispute occurred between students. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

9:20 pm INFORMATION, Off Campus. An off-campus incident was reported involving an employee.

October 2

1:45 am NOISE, Hamblin Hall. Campus Safety responded to a complaint of loud subjects.

9:05 am FIRE ALARM, International House-418 S. West. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by steam from a shower.

5:40 pm FIRE ALARM, 270 W. Tompkins. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by steam from a shower.

11:10 am ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE, Neifert Hall. A suite window was broken by a tennis ball. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

October 3

1:40 am FIRE ALARM, 542 S. West. Galesburg Fire Department, Galesburg Police Department and Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by steam from a shower.

9:45 pm ALCOHOL VIOLATION, 516 S. West. Officers responding to a call at the residence found evidence that a beer pong type game had been played there recently.

10:20 pm NOISE, 284 W. Tompkins. Campus Safety responded to a loud music complaint.

October 4

4:55 pm FIRE ALARM, 265 S. Academy. Galesburg Fire Department, Galesburg Police Department and Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by burned food.

October 5

9:35 pm THEFT, Seymour Hall. A bike was stolen from the east side of the building where it was secured to a handrail.

10:15 pm SAFETY CONCERN/HAZARD, Memorial Gym. No monitor was present in the Fitness Center.

October 6

6:10 am WELL-BEING CHECK, Elder House. Campus Safety checked on student’s well-being. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

11:07 p.m. FIRE ALARM, Sherwin. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a room detector. No apparent cause was found for the alarm activation.

11:40 p.m. 911 HANG UP, Hamblin Hall. The Galesburg Police Department and Campus Safety responded to a 911 hang up call from the emergency phone outside of Hamblin. No problems were found.

October 7

10:45 am INFORMATION, Main Campus Grounds. Information was received regarding a traffic accident on private property. No injuries or damage were reported.

12:30 pm CRIMINAL DAMAGE, Knox-Cedar Parking Lot. A student reported that their car windows were broken out.

10:05 pm FIRE ALARM, 270 W. Tompkins. Galesburg Fire Department, Galesburg Police Department, and Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by persons smoking in the building. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

10:05 pm CANNABIS VIOLATION 270 W. Tompkins. A small amount of cannabis was found during fire alarm. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

October 8

12:25 am FIRE ALARM, Simonds House. Galesburg Fire Department, Galesburg Police Department and Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm. The building was checked and no problems were found.
