Thoughts from the Embers: In remembrance

On Feb. 14, 2008, Northern Illinois University alum Steven Kazmierczak opened fire in a classroom at his alma mater. He injured 18 students and killed five, one of whom worked for The Northern Star, their student newspaper. On the one-year anniversary of this tragedy, our hearts go out again to the victims and those who survive them. The rest of this Thoughts from the Embers will serve as a moment of silence for our colleagues in DeKalb.
