Campus Safety Log: April 15-21

APRIL 15

11:25 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Simonds Hall. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a hair dryer.

3 p.m. WELL BEING CHECK, Hamblin Hall. Campus Safety checked on a student’s well being at the request of a family member.

3 p.m. INFORMATION, Off Campus. Information was received regarding an Order of Protection obtained by a student.

8:20 p.m. THEFT, 251 S. West. Video games were reported stolen from a common area.

10:12 p.m. UNAUTHORIZED ENTRY, 270 W. Tompkins. Students gained access to a locked basement. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

APRIL 16

SEXUAL ASSAULT, Main Campus Grounds. Campus Safety received a report regarding inappropriate sexual contact between two people on April 11.

4:50 a.m. NOISE, Main Campus Grounds. Campus Safety responded to a complaint of loud subjects on West Street. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

1:30 p.m. FOUND PROPERTY, Main Campus Grounds. A wallet was found and returned to a student.

2 p.m. INFORMATION, Main Campus Grounds. A suspicious incident was reported to Campus Safety.

7:55 p.m. FIRE ALARM, Williston Hall. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by burned food.

11:03 p.m. INFORMATION, Main Campus Grounds. Campus Safety received a report of a suspicious person asking for money on West Street near the Quads.

APRIL 17

1:33 a.m. MISCHIEVIOUS CONDUCT, Beta Theta Pi. Items that had been reported taken were later returned.

8:30 p.m. FIRE ALARM, Beta Theta Pi. Galesburg Fire Department, Galesburg Police Department, and Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by dust.

8:30 p.m. SAFETY CONCERN/HAZARD, Beta Theta Pi. Fire code violations pointed out by the Galesburg Fire Department were corrected. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

9 p.m. NOISE, Hamblin Hall. Campus Safety responded to a complaint of loud subjects. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

APRIL 18

2:40 a.m. DISTURBANCE, Main Campus Grounds. A person was arrested by the Galesburg Police Department for disorderly conduct.

2 p.m. INFORMATION, Umbeck Science-Mathematics Center. A mechanical problem was reported.

7:17 p.m. FIRE ALARM, 284 W. Tompkins. Galesburg Fire Department, Galesburg Police Department, and Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by burned food.

8:36 p.m. FIRE ALARM, 284 W. Tompkins. Galesburg Fire Department, Galesburg Police Department, and Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by burned food.

11:07 p.m. WELL BEING CHECK, Drew House. Campus Safety checked on a student’s well being. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

APRIL 19

1:21 a.m. NOISE, 260 W. Tompkins- Jazz House. Public Safety Building and Campus Safety responded to a complaint of excessive noise. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

1:58 a.m. NOISE, Hamblin Hall. Campus Safety responded to a complaint of loud subjects. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

2:25 a.m. MISCHIEVIOUS CONDUCT, Hamblin Hall. Campus Safety responded to complaints from students of being squirted with water and of objects being thrown at a balcony door. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

3:05 a.m. ALCOHOL VIOLATION, Tau Kappa Epsilon House. Galesburg Hospital Ambulance Services were called to check on an intoxicated subject who was unresponsive. The subject was under the age of 21. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

7:15 a.m. FOUND PROPERTY, Seymour Hall. An unattended backpack was taken to Campus Safety Office.

9:40 p.m. FIRE ALARM, 240 W. Tompkins. Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by a room detector. No apparent cause was found for the alarm activation.

APRIL 20

7:50 a.m. FOUND PROPERTY, Post Hall. A wallet was found and returned to a student.

9:36 a.m. TROUBLE ALARM, 240 W. Tompkins. Public Safety Building reported a trouble alarm from the fire alarm system. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.

4:15 p.m. FIRE ALARM, 675 S. West. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by a student smoking in their room. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

4:15 p.m. CANNABIS VIOLATION, 675 S. West. A pipe containing a substance believed to be cannabis residue and a bag containing a small amount of alleged cannabis was confiscated during a fire alarm. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

APRIL 21

9:34 a.m. FIRE ALARM, 270 W. Tompkins. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by steam from a shower.

12:25 p.m. INFORMATION, Post Hall. Campus Safety responded to a report of a suspicious person.

3:50 p.m. CRIMINAL DAMAGE, Main Campus Grounds. A car hood was scratched sometime between 7 a.m. and 3:50 p.m. while parked at the northeast corner of Berrien and Prairie Streets.

5:01 p.m. FIRE ALARM, Beta Theta Pi. Galesburg Fire Department, Galesburg Police Department, and Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by dust.
