Campus Safety Log: April 22-29

APRIL 22

10 a.m. BURGLARY, Fleming Fieldhouse. A video camera was reported taken from a locked office.

10:31 a.m. INFORMATION, Hamblin Hall. Galesburg Police Department and Campus Safety responded to a report of two subjects asking for money in front of Hamblin.

10:53 a.m. FIRE ALARM, 270 W. Tompkins. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by steam from a shower.

3:40 p.m. FIRE ALARM, Sellew Hall. Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by a room detector. No apparent cause was found for the alarm activation.

7:40 p.m. FIRE ALARM, Ford Center for the Fine Arts. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to the Ford Center for the Fine Arts, where smoke was coming from the elevator. The power to the elevator was shut off.

APRIL 23

5:40 a.m. NOISE, Main Campus Grounds. Campus Safety responded to a complaint of loud subjects.

9:55 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Beta Theta Pi. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a room detector. No apparent cause was found for the activation. Fire code violations were noted and the matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

7 p.m. INFORMATION, Main Campus Grounds. Information was received regarding an Order of Protection obtained by a student.

8:05 p.m. INFORMATION, Main Campus Grounds. Students were asked to leave the soccer field area due to weather-related safety concerns.

8:09 p.m. TROUBLE ALARM, 251 S. West. Public Safety Building reported a trouble alarm from the fire alarm system. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.

9:12 p.m. INFORMATION, Heating Plant. Problems were reported with the boilers due to weather related power outages.

APRIL 24

11:10 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Beta Theta Pi. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by dust from a vacuum cleaner.

1 p.m. INFORMATION, Main Campus Grounds. A suspicious incident was reported to Campus Safety.

10 p.m. INFORMATION, Post Hall. Campus Safety responded to a disturbance.

11:55 p.m. FIRE ALARM, Peterson House. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a malfunctioning heat detector. A work order was submitted.

APRIL 25

7 p.m. INFORMATION, Main Campus Grounds. Local law enforcement called seeking a translator for a foreign subject that was under arrest.

11:50 p.m. INFORMATION, Phi Gamma Delta – 218 S. Cedar. A party registration problem was caused by a misplaced registration form.

APRIL 26

1:10 a.m. INFORMATION, Main Campus Grounds. Galesburg Police Department requested Campus Safety meet officers in the 700 block of South West Street.

2:30 a.m. ALCOHOL VIOLATION, 270 W. Tompkins. Alcohol was present at an event registered as having no alcohol. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

3:10 a.m. ALCOHOL VIOLATION, Simmonds House. A violation of the alcohol policy was reported. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

3:30 p.m. FIRE ALARM, 270 W. Tompkins. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a room detector. No apparent cause was found for the activation.

5:15 p.m. FIRE ALARM, 270 W. Tompkins. Galesburg Fire Department, Galesburg Police Department and Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a room detector. No apparent cause was found for the activation.

10:20 p.m. CRIMINAL DAMAGE, Main Campus Grounds. Students were observed digging in the Quad area. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

APRIL 27

8:25 a.m. CRIMINAL DAMAGE, Heating Plant. Graffiti was sprayed on the cooling tower.

8:30 a.m. INFORMATION, Seymour Hall. A custodian stuck in an elevator due to a malfunction was let out. A work order was submitted for the elevator.

3:45 p.m. INFORMATION, Main Campus Grounds. A suspicious incident was reported to Campus Safety.

7:10 p.m. NOISE, Williston Hall. Campus Safety responded to a complaint of loud subjects. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

10:20 p.m. SAFETY CONCERN/HAZARD, Memorial Gym. Two people in the Fitness Center with no monitor present were asked to leave.

APRIL 28

8:50 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Elder Hall. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a room detector. No apparent cause was found for the alarm activation.

1 p.m. INFORMATION, Main Campus Grounds. Information was received regarding a possible security issue.

2 p.m. FIRE ALARM, Elder Hall. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by burnt popcorn.

APRIL 29

5:35 a.m. NOISE, Main Campus Grounds. Campus Safety responded to a complaint of loud subjects.

8:20 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Elder Hall. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a room detector. No apparent cause was found for the alarm activation.
