Catch releases new issue with new features

Catch released number two of their 41st volume on Friday, May 15th. A string band and hors d’oeuvres served as a prelude to the event, as well as a consolation for the rainy weather that Catch enthusiasts had traveled through to get there. The trip was worth it, however, for more reasons than one.

The latest issue of Catch had two new features: two-color printing on every page and a DVD enclosed in the back. The DVD included a musical improvisation and a recording of a wrestling match. The cover of the issue is based on the cover illustration of Joseph Heller’s novel, Catch-22.

Senior Ellen Kokontis, the editor of the magazine, thanked everyone who had contributed to the success of this term’s issue of Catch, invited new submissions (which may be turned in starting now), and invited guests to take old, surplus issues of Catch in addition to the new one.

Readers at the event included sophomore Marnie Shure, junior Laura Miller, junior Mandy Gutmann-Gonzalez, senior Neil Richter, junior Lauren Scott, senior Olivia Engel, junior Meredith Noseworthy, junior Adam Soto, freshman Anne Pittman, and senior Dyson Shannon. The pieces ranged from poetry to prose and from heartfelt to humorous. A slideshow of the artwork in the issue was also featured.
