CAMPUS SAFETY LOG

September 2 to September 22

SEPTEMBER 2

10 a.m. INFORMATION, Sigma Chi- 616 S. West. A complaint was received about trash and broken glass in the street from a party the previous night. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

SEPTEMBER 9

2 p.m. INFORMATION, Hamblin Hall. Galesburg Police Department and Campus Safety responded to a report of a subject who had been banned from Quick Sam’s asking students to buy him alcohol there. The subject was also banned from campus and notified of the ban in writing.

SEPTEMBER 10

12:13 a.m. INFORMATION, Main Campus Grounds. Trouble was reported with an alarm system. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.

12:41 a.m. POWER OUTAGE, Seymour Hall. A breaker tripped, shutting off the power to Seymour 3.

12:54 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Sigma Chi- 616 S. West. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by burned popcorn.

8:40 a.m. FIRE ALARM, 516 S. West. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a room detector. No cause was found for the alarm.

12:10 p.m. FIRE ALARM, Seymour Hall. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a room detector. No cause was found for the alarm. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.

11 p.m. DECEPTIVE PRACTICE, Seymour Hall. A student reported to the Galesburg Police Department that they were victimized in a scam involving an EBay purchase.

SEPTEMBER 11

2 p.m. THEFT, Williston Hall. A bike was reported stolen from the area by the front of the building.

2:55 p.m. THEFT, 284 W. Tompkins. A bike was stolen from the bike rack near the south end of the building where it had been locked.

10:06 p.m. FIRE ALARM, 675 S. West. Galesburg Fire Department, Galesburg Police Department, and Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a dirty detector.

10:35 p.m. ALCOHOL VIOLATION, Elder House. Intoxicated students caused a disturbance while being let into their room by Campus Safety. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

SEPTEMBER 12

9:25 a.m. SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT, Seymour Hall. The door to the Gizmo was damaged in an attempt to force the door open sometime during the night.

10:30 a.m. INFORMATION, Seymour Hall. Maintenance was called to open the door to a third-floor room where a student was stuck inside. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.

12:50 p.m. ALCOHOL VIOLATION, Hamblin Hall. Officers responding to a noise complaint found evidence of a drinking game in progress. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

8:06 p.m. INFORMATION, Main Campus Grounds. Campus Safety received reports of discolored water in campus buildings. Public Safety Building was called and advised that there had been a water main break earlier in the day and that no boil order was put into effect.

8:24 p.m. ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE, Post Hall. A toilet was broken and leaking water into a suite. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.

SEPTEMBER 13

12:45 a.m. INTOXICATED SUBJECT, Seymour Library. Officers found an intoxicated subject lying on the ground. They were escorted back to their dorm. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

11:05 a.m. SAFETY CONCERN/HAZARD, Seymour Hall. An access window to the roof was not locked.

12:25 p.m. CRIMINAL DAMAGE, TKE House. A flowerbed in front of the house had been damaged overnight.

9:20 p.m. MEDICAL, Main Campus Grounds. Galesburg Fire Department, Galesburg Hospital Ambulance Services, Galesburg Police Department, and Campus Safety responded to the track, where a student was having trouble breathing.

SEPTEMBER 14

11:15 p.m. INFORMATION, Campbell House. Campus Safety received a report of a water leak in Campbell 2. A work order was submitted.

SEPTEMBER 15

11:50 a.m. FIRE ALARM, 516 S. West. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a room detector. No cause was found for the alarm activation.

5:30 p.m. FIRE ALARM, International House- 418 S. West. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by burnt food.

5:40 p.m. CRIMINAL DAMAGE, 251 S. West. A car was vandalized and its paint damaged.

SEPTEMBER 16

4:30 p.m. THEFT, Elder House. A student reported their bike stolen from a bike rack outside Elder.

7:35 p.m. THEFT, Main Campus Grounds. A student reported their bike stolen from the area of the Heating Plant and the baseball diamond.

11:20 p.m. NOISE, Elder House. Campus Safety responded to a complaint of loud subjects. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

SEPTEMBER 17

3 a.m. BURGLARY, 284 W. Tompkins. Campus Safety received a report of a male subject on the back deck of an apartment and possible burglary.

11 a.m. FOUND PROPERTY, Main Campus Grounds. A woman’s purse was found in the area of the parking lot.

1 p.m. THEFT, Hamblin Hall. A student reported that their bike had been stolen over the summer.

5 p.m. SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT, 284 W. Tompkins. A student reported two male subjects acting suspicious. The subjects were located, identified, and told to stay off campus.

SEPTEMBER 18

5:38 p.m. FIRE ALARM, 516 S. West. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a room detector. No cause was found for the alarm activation. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.

8:35 p.m. MEDICAL, Post Hall. Galesburg Fire Department, Galesburg Police Department, and Campus Safety responded to a report of an ill student. The student refused treatment.

11 p.m. MEDICAL, Post Hall. A student was transported to Cottage Hospital for treatment.

11:10 p.m. MEDICAL, 265 S. Academy. A student reported injuring their ankle earlier in the evening.

11:20 p.m. DISTURBANCE, Sigma Chi- 616 S. West. Campus Safety responded to a report of a disturbance. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

SEPTEMBER 19

1:35 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Peterson House. Public Safety Building reported trouble in the fire alarm system. A work order was submitted.

1:35 a.m. THEFT, Sellew House. A student reported a poster taken from a wall in the common area.

2:35 a.m. FIRE ALARM, 240 W. Tompkins. A trouble alarm was activated by a dirty detector. A work order was submitted.

11:30 a.m. UNSECURED DOOR/BUILDING, Umbeck Science and Mathematics Center. Campus Safety Officers found an unsecured door during a routine check.

2:55 p.m. INFORMATION, Main Campus Grounds. A parent assisted in contacting someone regarding an injury during a football game.

3:45 p.m. FIRE ALARM, Seymour Hall. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a room detector. No cause was found for the alarm activation.

8:45 p.m. MEDICAL, Post Hall. Campus Safety responded to a report that a student had fallen.

10:19 P.M. NOISE, Post Hall. Campus Safety responded to a complaint of loud music.

SEPTEMBER 20

1 a.m. PUBLIC INDECENCY, Phi Gamma Delta- 218 S. Cedar. A student was observed urinating in public. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

SEPTEMBER 21

6 a.m. WELL BEING CHECK, Post Hall. Campus Safety checked on the well being of a student at the request of a family member.

SEPTEMBER 22

12:45 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Post Hall. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a room detector. No cause was found for the alarm activation. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.

11:30 p.m. NOISE, Drew House. Campus Safety responded to a complaint of loud subjects outside of Drew.
