Campus Safety Log: April 13-19

APRIL 13

12:35 a.m. THEFT, S. West St.- 400 Block. A Garmin Nuvi GPS navigator was taken from a car parked in the lot by the Center for Teaching and Learning.

8:25 p.m. FIRE ALARM, 697 S. West. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by smoke from a burner on the stove.

APRIL 14

12:45 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Peterson House. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by burned toast.

12:46 a.m. CRIMINAL DAMAGE, Umbeck Science and Mathematics Center. A power cord was cut on a vending machine.

5:45 a.m. NOISE, Main Campus Grounds. A group of students was making noise during a Flunk Day false alarm.

3 p.m. INFORMATION. Information was received regarding a subject banned from campus.

6:25 p.m. FIRE ALARM, 542 S. West. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by burned food.

APRIL 15

12:40 a.m. NOISE, Sigma Nu- 556 S. West St. Campus Safety responded to a complaint of loud subjects.

12:50 a.m. NOISE, Neifert Hall. Campus Safety responded to a complaint of loud subjects.

1:35 a.m. CRIMINAL DAMAGE, Main Campus Grounds. A utility company’s gas line marker was broken off.

1:50 a.m. MISCHIEVIOUS CONDUCT, Beta Theta Pi. Galesburg Police Department and Campus Safety responded when a fire was observed on the back porch of the Beta House. Students were found setting a fire with lighter fluid on the concrete surface. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

APRIL 16

7:42 a.m. THEFT, Seymour Hall. A fire extinguisher was found to be missing from the area by the mailroom.

1 p.m. THEFT, 251 S. West. A bike was reported stolen from the bike rack.

3 p.m. WELL BEING CHECK, Hamblin Hall. Campus Safety checked on a student’s well-being at the request of Student Development. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

APRIL 17

12:30 a.m. ALCOHOL VIOLATION, International House- 418 S. West. A registered non-alcoholic event was ended after alcohol violations were found. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

1:10 a.m. PUBLIC INDECENCY, 284 W. Tompkins. Campus Safety responded to complaints of students urinating off a balcony at a registered party. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

1 p.m. TELEPHONE HARASSMENT, Main Campus Grounds. A student reported receiving harassing phone calls.

6:10 p.m. DAMAGE, Memorial Gym. A window was broken by a foul ball.

6:30 p.m. DAMAGE, Memorial Gym. A car windshield was broken by a foul ball.

APRIL 18

12:15 a.m. CRIMINAL DAMAGE, Hamblin Hall. A emergency power-failure light was damaged.

2 a.m. CRIMINAL TRESPASS, Williston Hall. Campus Safety responded to a report of a subject in Williston causing a disturbance. The student responsible for the disturbance was asked to leave. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

2:10 a.m. SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT, 270 W. Tompkins. Galesburg Police Department and Campus Safety responded to a report of a group causing a disturbance in the area.

APRIL 19

11:55 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Phi Gamma Delta- 218 S. Cedar. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a room detector. No apparent cause was found for the alarm activation.
