In the Round Room of CFA last week, Student Senate met for just over ten minutes for the shortest meeting of the year so far. The main reason the session was called was to vote on two club funding requests, $900 for Terp and $30 for German Club and to approve the creation of the Martial Arts Club.
The main reason the meeting lasted as long as it did was due to a discussion of the Presidential Search Committee added by Senator junior Abraham Diekhans-Mears during the meeting to the agenda. The discussion covered what exactly is happening on the subject of the Knox College president and how students could apply to the committee searching for a replacement. The result of the discussion was the sending of an e-mail by the Communications officer including application information to all students. Senate President senior Heather Kopec also made note that she would attempt to lengthen the deadline for such applications.
Other matters discussed included that there would be an upcoming rally for more MAP funding and also that there will be another Killer Coke informational meeting on campus soon.
As of last week’s meeting, the Student Senate Discretionary Fund retained approximately $27,924 for the rest of the year.
