Student Senate: April 22

The Knox College Student Senate meet in the Round room of CFA last week, faced with a relatively limited docket to discuss.

In a meeting lasting just over half an hour, much less than the average elapsed time, the assembled body discussed important issues such as two new Green Fee proposals.

Phi Gamma Delta fraternity submitted a Green-Fee proposal for $1,465 for procuring energy efficient washers and dryers for their house, with the stipulation that use of clothes lines would be encouraged as well.

Another proposal was made by freshman senator Firas Suqi for $239 on behalf of the Sustainability Committee for a variety of drying racks to be placed and the efficacy tested in residence halls next year. Both requests were approved.

Senate also discussed the Presidential Search Committee. Anonymous student applications were read, and the initial pool of 15 narrowed down to four. The remaining applications will be sent to the Board of Trustees for final selection of student committee members.

Student Senate also approved an additional funds request of $90 to the photography club for printing and framing of new photos for the Caf.

Student Senate meets every Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Round Room of CFA.
