Triple Play returns

Delta Delta Delta’s Triple Play fundraiser for St. Jude’s Children Hospital will return this weekend on the college softball field. On Saturday, teams will play from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“All the proceeds for it go towards St. Jude’s,” said Delta Delta Delta junior Stef Gordon.

A couple of weeks ago, the sorority tabled to get teams signed up to play in the tournament.

“I think we have a total of ten teams almost,” Gordon said. “Anyone can sign up as long as they get ten people.”

To raise money, each person on every team writes 25 letters which St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital calls “Sincerely Yours” letters, which are part of a letter-writing campaign to get people in the community to donate money to the hospital. While the letters ask for money, students on teams this weekend can either sign 25 letters each or donate $75 per person.

“The letter is written out. They just sign it,” Gordon said.

Additionally, on Sunday, there will be a homerun derby at 2:45 with an entrance fee of $1 to participate.

This is the third year that Delta Delta Delta is hosting the Triple Play for St. Jude’s Hospital.
