Campus Safety Log: May 4-11

MAY 4

10 a.m. INFORMATION, Main Campus Grounds. Assistance was requested by an advisor in contacting a student.

2:05 p.m. MEDICAL, Main Campus Grounds. Campus Safety responded to the Gizmo Patio, where a student had fainted.

3 p.m. FIRE ALARM, Seymour Hall. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a room detector. No apparent cause was found for the alarm activation.

8:40 p.m. THREATS, 265 S. Academy. A student reported receiving threats from another student. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

11:30 p.m. MISCHIEVIOUS CONDUCT, Main Campus Grounds. A student was observed in possession of a street sign.

MAY 5

7:45 p.m. MISCHIEVIOUS CONDUCT, Sigma Nu- 556 S. West St. A student was found writing on the building with chalk. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

MAY 6

INFORMATION, Main Campus Grounds. Campus Safety received information of an unreported disturbance that may have taken place in 2009. The matter is under investigation.

10 a.m. LOST OR MISPLACED ITEM, Main Campus Grounds. A student reported a lost military ID card.

5:45 p.m. SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT, Hamblin Hall. Campus Safety and Galesburg Police Department responded to a report of two male subjects in a vehicle in Hamblin lot harassing female students.

6:40 p.m. WELL BEING CHECK, Ford Center for the Fine Arts. Campus Safety checked on the well being of a student at the request of another student. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

MAY 7

3:08 a.m. INFORMATION, Umbeck Science and Mathematics Center. Heating plant personnel was called in to repair a steam leak.

3:30 p.m. THEFT, Seymour Hall. An Apple IPhone was taken from a student room.

MAY 8

3:30 a.m. CRIMINAL DAMAGE, Seymour Hall. A stairwell window, sidewalk and parking sign were spray painted.

10:25 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Seymour Hall. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a room detector. No apparent cause was found for the alarm activation.

9:44 p.m. FIRE ALARM, George Davis Hall. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by cigarette smoke.

CANNABIS VIOLATION, George Davis Hall. A cannabis smell was reported.

10 p.m. CRIMINAL DAMAGE, Seymour Hall. Additional graffiti was found.

MAY 9

12:10 a.m. CRIMINAL DAMAGE, Umbeck Science and Mathematics Center. A vending machine power cord was cut.

2:20 a.m. CRIMINAL DAMAGE, Post Hall. A smoker’s stand was thrown through a window in Post basement.

11:25 a.m. MISCHIEVIOUS CONDUCT, Post Hall. Campus Safety received a report that furniture had been knocked over and trash thrown around the lobby area.

10:45 p.m. FOUND PROPERTY, Seymour Hall. A wallet was found and returned to a student.

MAY 10

1:40 a.m. FIRE ALARM, 240 W. Tompkins. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a dirty detector.

8:35 p.m. FIRE ALARM, Post Hall. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by burned popcorn.

MAY 11

12:05 p.m. MEDICAL, Old Main. Campus Safety responded to a report of an ill student.
