Campus Safety Log: Sept. 12-27

SEPTEMBER 12

1:50 a.m. ALCOHOL VIOLATION, Simonds House. Campus Safety responded to a request for assistance with an intoxicated student.

2:05 a.m. FOUND PROPERTY, Main Campus Grounds. Student ID found. Student notified.

6:40 a.m. CRIMINAL DAMAGE, Hamblin Hall. Glass in entrance door broken.

7:09 a.m. INFORMATION, Main Campus Grounds. Flyers placed on cars by Galesburg business in college lots.

10:55 p.m. FIRE ALARM, 284 W. Tompkins. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by burned food.

4:30 p.m. 911 HANG UP, Hamblin Hall. Public Service Building reported a 911 call from the emergency behind Hamblin. The area was checked and no problems were found.

SEPTEMBER 13

9:09 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Post Hall. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by burned food.

10:00 a.m. SAFETY CONCERN/HAZARD, Seymour Hall. Bike locked to stairway handrail removed.

12:58 p.m. FIRE ALARM, International House. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by burned food.

SEPTEMBER 14

1:05 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Sherwin House. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a malfunction in the system. A work order was submitted.

6:06 p.m. FIRE ALARM, ABLE House. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by burned food.

7:30 p.m. FOUND PROPERTY, Main Campus Grounds. Bottle of prescription medicine found by grounds worker.

11:55 p.m. NOISE COMPLAINT, 516 S. West. Campus Safety responded to a complaint of noise coming from a student room.

SEPTEMBER 15

8:15 a.m. FIRE ALARM, 240 W. Tompkins. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by burned food.

8:20 a.m. ANIMAL COMPLAINT, 240 W. Tompkins. Complaint of dog being kept in building.

10:55 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Beta Theta Pi. Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by burned popcorn.

3 p.m. DOMESTIC, Main Campus Grounds. Family dispute.

4 p.m. DOMESTIC, Main Campus Grounds. Information received regarding an active order of protection filed in behalf of a Knox student.

SEPTEMBER 16

2:05 a.m. MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT, West South St, 100 block. Galesburg Police Department and Galesburg Fire Department responded to the 100 block of West South where a car had hit a power pole.

2:35 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Peterson House. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a living room detector. No apparent cause was found for the activation.

8:25 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Seymour Library, Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by dust from a vacuum cleaner.

9:43 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Sigma Nu. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by burned food.

5:30 p.m. FIRE ALARM, Furrow House. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a room detector. No apparent cause was found for the alarm activation.

SEPTEMBER 17

10:50 p.m. INFORMATION, off campus. A Galesburg business reported to the Galesburg Police Department and Campus Safety that a person believed to be a Knox student left without paying for a meal.

SEPTEMBER 18

2:50 a.m. UNSECURED DOORS/BUILDING, Post Hall. Unsecured door reported.

6:25 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Phi Gamma Delta. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by a hall detector. No apparent cause was found. Fire code violations noted.

10 a.m. THEFT, Conger House. Student reported the theft of a silver iPod Classic from a suite common area.

SEPTEMBER 19

12:05 a.m. DISTURBANCE, Sigma Chi. Campus Safety received a report of two subjects causing a disturbance.

12:15 a.m. ALCOHOL VIOLATION, Peterson House. Unauthorized party with alcohol violations noted.

2:40 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Casa Latina. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by lightning in the area.

7:50 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Elder House. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a room detector. No apparent cause was found for the alarm activation.

7 p.m. WATER LEAK, Post Hall. Custodians and plumber called in to clean up water and repair water leak.

9 p.m. FIRE ALARM MALFUNCTION, Main Campus Grounds. ADT reported trouble in the fire alarm system.

SEPTEMBER 20

11 p.m. BATTERY, S. West St. – 400 block. Person struck by an unknown subject in the area of Post Hall and I-House.

SEPTEMBER 21

5:25 p.m. FIRE ALARM, 516 S. West. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a dirty detector.

SEPTEMBER 23

6:42 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Beta Theta Pi. Galesburg Fire Department, Galesburg Police Department and Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by a malfunctioning detector.

11:23 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Sellew House. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a room detector. No apparent cause was found for the alarm activation.

3 p.m. CANNABIS VIOLATION, Post Hall. Substance believed to be cannabis and related items confiscated.

8:01 p.m. SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT, Griffith House. A student reported a suspicious incident.

8:03 p.m. SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT, S. West St. – 400 Block. Possible sighting of suspect in battery reported walking south on West Street near Peterson House.

SEPTEMBER 24

1:05 a.m. FIRE ALARM, 251 S. West. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by steam from a shower.

9:33 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Longden House. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a room detector. No apparent cause was found for the alarm activation.

9:50 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Neal House. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a room detector. No apparent cause was found for the alarm activation.

10:10 a.m. UNSECURED DOORS/BUILDING, Knox Jail. Unsecured door reported.

11:22 a.m. THEFT, Conger House. A black Trek bicycle was taken from bike rack outside.

1:30 p.m. SAFETY CONCERN/HAZARD, Phi Gamma Delta. Smoke detector covered.

SEPTEMBER 25

4:28 p.m. THEFT, Raub House. A purple Huffy bike was taken from the bike rack outside.

8:05 p.m. NOISE, Post Hall. Campus Safety responded to a complaint of loud music.

8:53 p.m. FIRE ALARM, Raub House. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a room detector. No apparent cause was found for the alarm activation.

11:40 p.m. ALCOHOL VIOLATION, Main Campus Grounds. Student transported for treatment of overconsumption of alcohol.

11:55 p.m. ALCOHOL VIOLATION, Phi Gamma Delta. Alcohol violations reported.

SEPTEMBER 26

1:20 a.m. ALCOHOL VIOLATION, Beta Theta Pi. Party ended after alcohol violations were found.

2:55 a.m. FIRE, 284 W. Tompkins. Galesburg Fire Department, Galesburg Police Department and Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated when a neck wrap caught fire in a microwave.

1:05 p.m. ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE, 251 S. West. A laundry room window was broken.

SEPTEMBER 27

12 p.m. MEDICAL, 240 W. Tompkins. Sick student transported for treatment.

1:40 p.m. FIRE ALARM, Phi Gamma Delta. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by smoke in a student’s room.
