Campus Safety Log: Oct. 7

SEPTEMBER 28

12:05 p.m. SAFETY CONCERN/HAZARD, SMC. A faculty member reported a problem with the elevator. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.

1:05 p.m. FIRE ALARM, Raub House. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a hair straightening iron.

6:23 p.m. FIRE ALARM, Williston Hall. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a hallway detector. No apparent cause was found for the detector activation.

SEPTEMBER 29

7:30 p.m. TROUBLE ALARM, Hamblin Hall. Campus safety responded to an alarm activated by burned food.

8 p.m. INFORMATION, Post Hall. Galesburg Police and Campus Safety responded to the report of a sighting of the suspect of a September 20 battery.

SEPTEMBER 30

12:55 p.m. FIRE ALARM, Neal House. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a room detector. No apparent cause was found for the alarm activation. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.

7 p.m. INFORMATION, Main Campus Grounds. A parking complaint was made.

9 p.m. SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT, Longden. Campus Safety received a report from a student of hearing a possible gunshot or fireworks.

OCTOBER 1

1:18 p.m. MEDICAL, Memorial Gym. A student was transported to Health Services for treatment.

4 p.m. FIRE ALARM, Raub House. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a room detector. No apparent cause was found for the activation.

OCTOBER 2

12:05 a.m. NOISE, ABLE House. Galesburg Police and Campus Safety responded to noise complaints at 12:05 a.m., 12:45 a.m. and 1:15 a.m. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

1:20 p.m. MEDICAL, Knosher Bowl. A student injured during the Knox v. Ripon game was transported by ambulance to the hospital.

OCTOBER 3

12:30 a.m. BATTERY, Main Campus Grounds. Campus Safety responded to a report of a fight in the area outside the Tau Kappa Epsilon House. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

1:15 a.m. INFORMATION, Post Hall. An alarm clock going off in the Outpost was turned off.

2:35 a.m. MEDICAL, Longden. A student was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development

2:50 a.m. NOISE, Sigma Chi. Campus Safety responded to a complaint of loud subjects.

3:20 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Phi Gamma Delta. Campus Safety and the Galesburg Police responded to a fire alarm activated by smoking in a student’s room. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

3:25 a.m. INFORMATION, Phi Gamma Delta. Supplemental to the report of a fire alarm activation at the Phi Gamma Delta House.

3:30 a.m. INFORMATION, Main Campus Grounds. A vehicle was reported as having a flat tire.

11:30 a.m. FIRE ALARM, 270 W. Tompkins. Campus Safety and the Galesburg Fire Department responded to a fire alarm activated by an overheated pan.

12:52 p.m. WELL BEING CHECK, Post Hall. Campus Safety checked on the well being of a student at the request of another student. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

8:45 p.m. PUBLIC INDECENCY, Main Campus Grounds. Campus Safety and the Galesburg Police Department responded to a report of a subject exposing himself.

OCTOBER 4

10:21 p.m. THEFT, Griffith House. Two subjects were arrested for attempted bicycle theft by the Galesburg Police Department after a report of suspicious individuals was received by Campus Safety.

OCTOBER 5

5 p.m. INFORMATION, Off Campus. Campus Safety received a report of a weapon being displayed at an off campus location. Investigation confirmed the weapon to be an inoperative Airsoft gun designed to be used as a stage prop.
