Campus Safety Log: Oct. 19-26

OCTOBER 19

10:25 p.m. FIRE ALARM, Williston Hall. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a room detector. No apparent cause was found for the alarm activation.

10:30 p.m. NOISE COMPLAINT, Simonds. Campus Safety responded to a complaint of loud music.

12:15 p.m. INFORMATION, Off Campus. Information regarding an off-campus dispute involving Knox students.

OCTOBER 20

Time not available. SEXUAL ASSAULT. Campus Safety received a report regarding unwanted sexual contact between two people. The incident was reported as taking place on October 9.

OCTOBER 21

5:17 p.m. FIRE ALARM, Sigma Chi. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a room detector. No apparent cause was found for the alarm activation.

6 p.m. THEFT, Memorial Gym. A student’s bag was stolen from a locker room.

6:40 p.m. SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT, Griffith House. Campus Safety received a report of a disturbance in a room.

OCTOBER 22

6 a.m. FIRE ALARM, George Davis Hall.  Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a room detector. No apparent cause was found for the alarm activation. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.

10 p.m. SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY, George Davis Hall. A Campus Safety Officer on a routine patrol reported suspicious activity.

11 p.m. UNWANTED SUBJECT, Tau Kappa Epsilon. The Galesburg Police Department and Campus Safety responded to a complaint of an unwanted subject.

OCTOBER 23

1:17 a.m. INFORMATION, Main Campus Grounds. Campus Safety received a call from a police department needing a translator.

1:40 a.m. MEDICAL, Post Hall. A student was transported to Cottage Hospital ER for treatment. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

2:25 a.m. NOISE, International House ­- 418 S. West. Campus Safety responded to a complaint of loud subjects.

2:35 a.m. INFORMATION, Cottage Hospital. A student was transported back to their dorm after becoming ill.

2:40 a.m. FIRE ALARM, 675 S. West. The Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by a room detector. No apparent cause was found for the alarm activation.

3:10 a.m. POWER FAILURE, South West Campus Area.  A power failure ocurred when a power pole was struck by a vehicle.

7 a.m. FIRE, Seymour Hall. Campus Safety received a report of someone lighting papers on fire in the third floor hallway, damaging the carpet. 

4:58 p.m. FIRE ALARM, Sigma Chi. The Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by burned food.

5:15 p.m. MEDICAL, 265 S. Academy. A student was transported by ambulance for treatment of a medical condition. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

11:45 p.m. ALCOHOL VIOLATION, Main Campus Grounds. A student was cited for underage drinking. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

OCTOBER 24

1:00 a.m. MISCHIEVOUS CONDUCT, Neal House. Trash was dumped out of waste cans in a suite. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

1:45 a.m. INFORMATION, Conger. Campus Safety received a request for assistance mediating a dispute between students. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

2:30 a.m. NOISE, Hamblin Hall. Campus Safety responded to a complaint of loud music.

2:40 a.m. INFORMATION, 240 W. Tompkins. A parking complaint was made.

3:55 a.m. INFORMATION, Main Campus Grounds. A discharged fire extinguisher found on the ground west of Alumni Hall.

2:45 a.m. DISTURBANCE, 516 S. West. Campus Safety responded to a report of a disturbance and found students arguing in the area. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

11 a.m. CRIMINAL DAMAGE, Alumni Hall. A window was broken and a work order was submitted.

5:30 p.m. TROUBLE ALARM, Sigma Chi – 616 S. West. ADT reported trouble with the fire alarm system. A work order was submitted.

8:35 p.m. SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT, 284 W. Tompkins. Campus Safety received a report of a suspicious odor in the hallway.

OCTOBER 25

12:30 a.m. FIRE, Seymour Hall. Burned paper was found in the 3rd floor bathroom sink.

OCTOBER 26

4:53 a.m. INFORMATION, SMC. A steam leak was reported in a mechanical room. Maintenance was called and a work order was submitted.

12:50 a.m. WELL BEING CHECK, Post Hall. Campus Safety checked on a student’s well being at the request of another student.
