Wrestling starts season at home

With 48.5 points, the Knox wrestling squad finished in 10th place out of 14 teams in the Knox Invite on Saturday. North Central College (IL) took the overall team title with 153 points, narrowly edging out Oklahoma City University (152.5).

Individually, Knox wrestlers placed in two classes. Senior Edel Vaca finished second at 133, while junior James Wagner finished sixth in the heavyweight class. Vaca, ranked 15th in the country by d3wrestle.com at the 133 lb. weight class, lost 7-0 to North Central College’s Nathan Fitzenreider. Fitzenreider is also ranked in the top ten by d3wrestle.com. The Prairie Fire will compete next Dec. 3-4 at the Milwauke School of Engineering Invitational.
