Campus Safety Log: Feb. 16-March 28

SEXUAL ASSAULT, Main Campus Grounds. Information was received regarding a possible sexual assault in January 2011. Location and time are unconfirmed. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

FEBRUARY 16

11:30 p.m. FOUND PROPERTY, Seymour Hall. Lost property was returned to its owner.

FEBRUARY 24

5 p.m. INFORMATION, Umbeck Science and Mathematics Center. A suspicious incident was reported to Campus Safety.

FEBRUARY 26

2 a.m. SEXUAL ASSAULT, Main Campus Grounds. Campus Safety received a report regarding unwanted sexual contact between two people.

FEBRUARY 28

11:30 a.m. INFORMATION, Seymour Hall. A suspicious incident was reported to Campus Safety.

MARCH 1

9:15 p.m. MEDICAL, Seymour Hall. An ambulance was called for an ill student.

MARCH 2

1:15 a.m. MEDICAL, Seymour Hall. A student was transported to Cottage Emergency Room for treatment.

2:45 p.m. PRIVATE PROPERTY ACCIDENT, Umbeck Science and Mathematics Center. A college vehicle backed into another vehicle in the loading dock area.

3:30 p.m. FIRE ALARM, Hamblin. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by burned food.

10:20 p.m. INFORMATION, 237 W. Knox St. A 6’ by 10’ flag was stolen from the east side of the house.

MARCH 3

2:52 a.m. FIRE ALARM – MALFUNCTION, 542 S. West. Galesburg Fire Department, Galesburg Police Department and Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by a malfunction in the fire alarm system. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.

8 p.m. INFORMATION, Auxiliary Gym. A suspicious incident was reported to Campus Safety.

12:58 p.m. FIRE ALARM, 675 S. West. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by burned food.

MARCH 4

8:15 a.m. SAFETY CONCERN/HAZARD, Seymour Hall. Students were reported on the roof.

8:45 p.m. SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT, Neifert. A suspicious incident was reported to Campus Safety.

12:25 a.m. SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT, Neifert. A suspicious incident was reported to Campus Safety.

1 a.m. FIRE ALARM, 516 S. West. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a room detector. No apparent cause was found for the alarm activation.

12:30 p.m. MEDICAL, Fleming Fieldhouse. A student was transported for treatment of a sports- related injury.

1:30 p.m. INFORMATION, Off-Campus Location. Galesburg Police Department received a report of an off-campus incident involving a Knox student. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

11:40 p.m. FIRE ALARM, 260 W. Tompkins. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by smoking in a student room. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

MARCH 6

1 a.m. INFORMATION, Main Campus Grounds. A report was determined to be unfounded.

2:10 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Beta House. Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by a malfunction in the system. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.

3:05 a.m. MEDICAL, Tau Kappa Epsilon House. A student was transported for treatment.

MARCH 8

11:40 p.m. CANNABIS VIOLATION, Neal. A possible cannabis violation was reported. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

MARCH 9

12:09 a.m. FIRE ALARM – MALFUNCTION, International House – 418 S. West. Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by a malfunction. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.

9:24 p.m. FIRE ALARM, Conger. Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by smoking in a student room. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

MARCH 10

11:50 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Sherwin. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by burned food.

12:30 p.m. WELL-BEING CHECK, Seymour Hall. Campus Safety checked on the well-being of a student at the request of Student Development. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

MARCH 11

8:40 a.m. TROUBLE ALARM, Umbeck Science and Mathematics Center. ADT reported trouble in the fire alarm system. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.

9:39 a.m. ANIMAL COMPLAINT, 530 S. West. A bat was removed from the house.

3:25 p.m. TROUBLE ALARM, Beta House. ADT reported trouble in the fire alarm system. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.

10:40 p.m. BURGLARY, Tau Kappa Epsilon House. A laptop was taken from the house.

MARCH 12

1:15 p.m. WELL-BEING CHECK, 251 S. West. Campus Safety checked on the well-being of a student at the request of Student Development. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

7:45 a.m. FIRE ALARM – MALFUNCTION, Umbeck Science and Mathematics Center. ADT reported trouble in the fire alarm system. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.

8:20 p.m. FIRE ALARM – MALFUNCTION, Umbeck Science and Mathematics Center. ADT reported trouble in the fire alarm system. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.

MARCH 13

12:35 p.m. INFORMATION, 251 S. West. Drug paraphernalia was found during an end-of-term room inspection. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

11:30 p.m. FIRE ALARM, 251 S. West. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a heat detector. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.

11:45 p.m. NOISE, 516 S. West. Campus Safety responded to a complaint of loud subjects.

MARCH 14

11:45 a.m. FOUND PROPERTY, Ford Center for the Fine Arts. A camera left in the lobby was turned in to Campus Safety.

MARCH 15

10:40 p.m. FIRE ALARM, 251 S. West. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a dirty detector.

MARCH 16

2:15 p.m. DISTURBANCE, Seymour Hall. Galesburg Police Department and Campus Safety responded to a complaint of verbal harassment. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

3:15 p.m. INFORMATION, Ford Center for the Fine Arts. Campus Safety received a report regarding a possible battery that occurred in May 2010. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

MARCH 18

3:10 a.m. SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT, 240 W. Tompkins. A Galesburg resident was arrested for criminal trespass after a student reported someone looking in their window.

3:54 p.m. UNWANTED SUBJECT, 265 S. Academy. A subject was arrested by the Galesburg Police Department after reports were received of a suspicious person in the area of 265 S. Academy.

MARCH 21

12:35 a.m. MEDICAL, Post Hall. Campus Safety checked on a student who was reported as being very ill. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

4:35 a.m. INFORMATION, Off Campus Location. Information was received regarding a possible security issue.

MARCH 22

10:55 a.m. BURGLARY, Seymour Hall. A student reported a guitar stolen from their room over break.

MARCH 23

12:55 p.m. INFORMATION, 516 S. West. Campus Safety received a complaint of student smoking in the house.

3:30 p.m. INFORMATION, Furrow. A request was received for a well-being check.

6:35 p.m. FIRE ALARM, Sigma Chi. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by a malfunction in the system. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.

MARCH 24

1:08 a.m. NOISE, Post Hall. Campus Safety responded to a complaint of loud subjects.

11:45 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Conger. Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by a detector malfunction. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.

7:45 p.m. WELL-BEING CHECK, Elder. Campus Safety checked on the well being of a student at the request of another student. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

MARCH 25

7:05 p.m. FIRE ALARM, Sherwin. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a room detector. No apparent cause was found for the alarm activation.

8:53 p.m. FIRE ALARM, Raub. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a room detector. No apparent cause was found for the alarm activation.

9 p.m. FIRE ALARM, Sigma Chi. Galesburg Fire Department, Galesburg Police Department and Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by smoking in a student room. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

9:25 p.m. FIRE ALARM, Conger. Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by a hot curling iron.

11:05 p.m. ALCOHOL VIOLATION, Main Campus Grounds. A student was observed with open alcohol in public. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

MARCH 26

1:45 p.m. INFORMATION, Main Campus Grounds. A student requested counseling services. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

11 p.m. PUBLIC INDECENCY, Tau Kappa Epsilon House. The Galesburg Police Department arrested a student for public indecency. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

11:32 p.m. ALCOHOL VIOLATION, Peterson House. An unauthorized party with alcohol was in process when officers responded to another complaint. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

MARCH 27

1 p.m. MISCHIEVOUS CONDUCT, Post Hall. A window was broken by students wrestling. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

MARCH 28

7:17 a.m. MEDICAL, Main Campus Grounds. A staff member was transported by ambulance for treatment after becoming ill.

1:35 p.m. FIRE ALARM, Sherwin. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a room detector. No apparent cause was found for the alarm activation.

9:53 p.m. FIRE ALARM, 251 S. West. The Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a hallway detector. No apparent cause was found for the alarm activation.
