Campus Safety Log: May 8-16

MAY 8

11:45 a.m. INFORMATION, Seymour Hall. A handicapped door opener was damaged. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.

8:10 p.m. MISCHIEVOUS CONDUCT, Main Campus Grounds. Subjects in a van were reported driving down South West Street throwing water balloons at pedestrians. The Galesburg Police Department responded.

MAY 10

8:30 p.m. INFORMATION, Seymour Hall. Unauthorized entry to the building by Galesburg residents.

9:20 p.m. INFORMATION, Post Hall. A fan was reported missing from an area in the basement.

MAY 11

12:25 a.m. INFORMATION, Heating Plant. The boiler pressure was low. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.

1:30 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Longden. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a room detector. No apparent cause was found for the alarm activation.

4:20 p.m. THEFT, Berrien St. A hood ornament was stolen from a car parked on Berrien Street.

8:10 p.m. MISCHIEVOUS CONDUCT, Main Campus Grounds. Juveniles activated an emergency phone as a prank. They were told by the Galesburg Police Department to stay off campus.

11:30 p.m. SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT, Main Campus Grounds. A suspicious incident was reported to Campus Safety.

MAY 12

1 a.m. CANNABIS VIOLATION, 251 S. West. A student was observed smoking cannabis outside of a building. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

1:30 a.m. TROUBLE ALARM, 240 W. Tompkins. ADT reported trouble in the fire alarm system. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.

4:30 p.m. FIRE ALARM, Phi Gamma Delta – 218 S. Cedar. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a room detector. No apparent cause was found for the alarm activation.

6:05 p.m. MEDICAL, Seymour Hall. A student was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment after a student fell and was injured.

MAY 13

8:45 p.m. ALCOHOL VIOLATION, Off-Campus Location. Underage students were asked to leave an off-campus event after consuming alcohol after being warned not to. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

MAY 14

6:10 a.m. MISCHIEVOUS CONDUCT, Main Campus Grounds. Benches and trash cans were overturned.

MAY 15

12:55 a.m. TROUBLE ALARM, 240 W. Tompkins. A trouble alarm was activated by an electrical problem. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.

1:15 a.m. FIRE ALARM, George Davis Hall. Galesburg Fire Department, Galesburg Police Department and Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm. No apparent cause was found for the alarm activation.

3:30 a.m. WELL-BEING CHECK, Williston. Campus Safety checked on a student’s well being at the request of another student. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

3:35 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Elder. Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by steam from a shower.

4:45 a.m. MEDICAL, Neifert. A student was transported for the treatment of an illness. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

8:40 a.m. INFORMATION, Off campus location. Campus Safety received information regarding a student injured in a traffic accident. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

12:45 p.m. INFORMATION, Post Hall. Maintenance was called in to repair a damaged door. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.

MAY 16

8:27 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Sigma Chi. The Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by a dirty detector. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.

10:23 a.m. SAFETY CONCERN/HAZARD, ABLE House. Campus Safety responded to a report of a covered detector. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.
