Campus Safety Log: Sept. 3-20

SEPTEMBER 3

3:50 p.m. MEDICAL, Old Main. A student was transported for the treatment of an illness.

SEPTEMBER 4

12:35 a.m. CRIMINAL DAMAGE, Conger. The laundry room and basement restroom were vandalized.

12:45 a.m. CRIMINAL DAMAGE, Raub. The suite common area and student room were vandalized.

12:55 a.m. ALCOHOL VIOLATION, Sellew. Underage alcohol consumption was discovered. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

1:20 a.m. NOISE, Phi Gamma Delta – 218 South Cedar. While responding to another complaint, Campus Safety found an unauthorized party with alcohol in progress. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

10:10 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Raub. Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by a hot curling iron.

11:30 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Sherwin. Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by a room detector. No apparent cause was found for the alarm activation.

SEPTEMBER 5

2:39 a.m. ALCOHOL VIOLATION, Post Hall. An underage student was transported for treatment of overconsumption of alcohol. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

3:55 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Peterson House. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by a room detector. No apparent cause was found for the alarm activation.

7:20 a.m. CRIMINAL DAMAGE, Sellew. The glass of an exterior door was kicked in. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.

12:03 p.m. LOST OR MISPLACED ITEM, Main Campus Grounds. A student reported a lost wallet.

SEPTEMBER 6

1:25 a.m. ALCOHOL VIOLATION, Elder. Two underage students were transported for the treatment of overconsumption of alcohol. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

4:45 p.m. INFORMATION, 284 W. Tompkins. Ameren called to check on a report of a gas odor.

5:15 p.m. FIRE ALARM – MALFUNCTION, Phi Gamma Delta – 218 S. Cedar. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by a malfunction in the sytem. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.

6:15 p.m. MEDICAL, Seymour Hall. A student was transported for an injury received while playing basketball.

SEPTEMBER 7

7 p.m. FOUND PROPERTY, Main Campus Grounds. A cell phone was turned in to Campus Safety.

8:25 p.m. 911 HANG-UP, Old Main. Public Safety Building reported receiving a 911-hang-up call from an on-campus number. No problems were found.

SEPTEMBER 8

2:15 p.m. FIRE ALARM, Sigma Chi. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated when material on a stove top ignited.

9:22 p.m. FIRE ALARM, 251 S. West. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by burnt popcorn.

SEPTEMBER 9

11:10 a.m. THEFT, Seymour Hall. A backpack containing a laptop was reported stolen. The backpack was recovered.

6:15 p.m. NOISE, Neal. Campus Safety responded to a complaint of loud music.

7 p.m. FOUND PROPERTY, George Davis Hall. A receipt and cash were found.

11 p.m. ALCOHOL VIOLATION, Main Campus Grounds. Underage alcohol consumption was found. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

11:15 p.m. DISTURBANCE, Hamblin. Campus Safety Officers on patrol found an unauthorized party with alcohol in progress. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

12:28 p.m. INFORMATION, Main Campus Grounds. Information was received regarding a possible security issue.

2:55 p.m. PUBLIC INDECENCY, Seymour Library. A student reported a subject acting lewdly.

SEPTEMBER 10

1:10 a.m. INFORMATION, Seymour Hall. A custodian was contacted to clean up a mess.

1:20 a.m. DISTURBANCE, Neal. Campus Safety responded to a report of an unwanted subject. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

2:40 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Sigma Chi. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by a pull station.

6:23 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Fleming Fieldhouse. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by a malfunction in the system. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.

2:20 p.m. INFORMATION, public sidewalks. A person who had been banned from campus was seen on sidewalks around the campus perimeter.

8:30 p.m. FOUND PROPERTY, Main Campus Grounds. Several cans of spray paint were found near the Intercultural Center.

9:50 p.m. FIRE ALARM – MALFUNCTION, Fleming Fieldhouse. Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by a malfunction in the system. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.

SEPTEMBER 11

12:20 a.m. ALCOHOL VIOLATION, Beta House. A student was transported for the treatment of overconsumption of alcohol. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

12:50 a.m. BATTERY, Beta House. Galesburg Police Department, Galesburg Hospital Ambulance Services and Campus Safety responded to a report of a fight and a person injured. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

1:30 a.m. ATTEMPTED BURGLARY, Drew. Two subjects were observed trying to gain entry through a window. The subjects fled after being approached by a student.

2:30 a.m. FOUND PROPERTY, Post Hall. A set of student dorm keys were found.

3:15 a.m. WELL BEING CHECK, Hamblin. Campus Safety checked on the well being of a student at the request of a staff member.

8:17 a.m. FIRE ALARM – MALFUNCTION, Fleming Fieldhouse. Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by a malfunction in the system.

11 a.m. FIRE ALARM, 260 W. Tompkins. Galesburg Fire Department, Galesburg Police Department and Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by a room detector. No apparent cause was found for the activation.

12:30 p.m. THEFT, George Davis Hall. Galesburg Police Department and Campus Safety responded to a report of a stolen bike.

2:14 p.m. MEDICAL, Raub. A student reported health issues and was transported for treatment.

3:08 p.m. INFORMATION, Main Campus Grounds. A student reported suspicious activity.

4:30 p.m. MEDICAL, Fleming Fieldhouse. Galesburg Fire Department, Galesburg Hospital Ambulance Services and Campus Safety responded to a report of a student injured while playing baseball.

10:35 p.m. INFORMATION, Main Campus Grounds. A student was referred to Health Services.

SEPTEMBER 13

7:50 a.m. FIRE ALARM, 260 W. Tompkins. Galesburg Fire Department, Galesburg Police Department and Campus Safety responded to an alarm activation by a malfunction in the system. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.

9:05 p.m. 911 HANG UP, Drew. Public Safety Building reported a 911-hang-up from a student cell phone. The student had accidentally dialed 911.

9:55 p.m. FIRE ALARM, Beta House. Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by a room detector. No apparent cause was found for the alarm activation.

SEPTEMBER 14

5:27 p.m. FIRE ALARM, 251 S. West. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by steam from a shower.

SEPTEMBER 15

1:30 a.m. UNSECURED DOOR, Auxiliary Gym. During a routine patrol, doors were found unsecured.

7:07 a.m. TROUBLE ALARM, Sigma Chi. Campus Safety responded to a trouble alarm activated by a dirty detector. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.

6:05 p.m. SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT, Main Campus Grounds. A suspicious person trying to sell bikes was reported to Campus Safety.

7:10 p.m. SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT, Main Campus Grounds. A suspicious vehicle was reported to Campus Safety.

9:40 p.m. MEDICAL, Longden. A student was transported to St. Mary’s ER for treatment of an illness.

SEPTEMBER 16

1:18 a.m. TROUBLE ALARM, 251 S. West. Campus Safety responded to a trouble alarm activated by a malfunction in the system. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.

7:25 a.m. FIRE ALARM – MALFUNCTION, Sigma Chi. Campus Safety responded to a trouble alarm activated by a malfunction in the system. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.

8:07 a.m. TROUBLE ALARM, Seymour Hall. Campus Safety responded to a trouble alarm activated by a malfunction in the system. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.

8:34 a.m. FIRE ALARM, 284 W. Tompkins. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by burned food.

8:30 a.m. FIRE ALARM, 251 S. West. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by steam from a shower.

6:12 p.m. SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT, 386 S. Academy. Campus Safety responded to a student’s report of a suspicious person in the area.

11:04 p.m. ALCOHOL VIOLATION, Tau Kappa Epsilon House. Campus Safety responded to a report of a large gathering with a number of alcohol violations. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

SEPTEMBER 17

12:10 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Sigma Nu. Galesburg Fire Department, Galesburg Police Department and Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a fog machine.

7:35 a.m. TROUBLE ALARM, Sigma Chi. ADT reported trouble in the fire alarm system. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.

8:15 p.m. FIRE ALARM, Sigma Chi. Galesburg Fire Department, Galesburg Police Department and Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a fog machine.

8:35 p.m. FIRE ALARM, 251 S. West. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by steam from a shower.

SEPTEMBER 18

12:15 a.m. INFORMATION, Hamblin. An accidental 911 call was made from a cell phone.

12:20 a.m. SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT, Main Campus Grounds. Students reported being harassed by two male subjects while walking on South Street.

12:35 a.m. DISTURBANCE, Peterson House. Campus Safety responded to a report of subjects knocking on the door and windows.

1:50 a.m. DISTURBANCE, 516 S. West. A subject was observed urinating in public. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

2:55 a.m. 911 HANG UP, Main Campus Grounds. Galesburg Police Department and Campus Safety responded to a 911-hang-up from an emergency phone. No problems were found in the area.

SEPTEMBER 19

6:36 a.m. 911 HANG UP, Main Campus Grounds. Public Safety Building reported a 911-hang-up from a campus phone.

8:15 a.m. INFORMATION, Main Campus Grounds. A staff member reported finding unsecured doors.

10:10 a.m. 911 HANG UP, Williston. Campus Safety responded to a 911 call caused by a problem with the phone lines. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.

1:24 p.m. INFORMATION, Main Campus Grounds. Campus Safety responded to a report of suspicious subjects in the area of the Gizmo.

2:51 p.m. TROUBLE ALARM, Sigma Chi. ADT reported trouble in the fire alarm system. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.

SEPTEMBER 20

2 a.m. FOUND PROPERTY, Gizmo. A wallet was found.

2:30 a.m. UNSECURED DOOR, Main Campus Grounds. Campus Safety Officers on patrol found an unsecured door.
