Campus Safety Log: April 17-23
APRIL 17
12:41 p.m. INFORMATION, Main Campus Grounds. Public Safety Building requested a check of the Berrien Street area by the baseball field after a passerby reported a suspicious item. Nothing was found.
1:50 p.m. FIRE ALARM, Neal. Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by a room detector. No apparent cause was found for the alarm activation.
2:35 p.m. THEFT, Main Campus Grounds. A bike was stolen. The bike later was recovered.
4:45 p.m. MISCHIEVOUS CONDUCT, Sherwin. Chalk graffiti was found on the outside of the building. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.
11:07 p.m. 911 HANG UP, Main Campus Grounds. After receiving a 911 call, the Galesburg Police Department (GPD) and Campus Safety responded to the emergency phone east of Post. No problems were found in the area.
APRIL 18
12:14 a.m. TROUBLE ALARM, 265 S. Academy. Campus Safety responded to a trouble alarm from the fire alarm system. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.
4:53 p.m. INFORMATION, Main Campus Grounds. Campus Safety responded to a complaint from coaches regarding inappropriate behavior by two subjects. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.
6:20 p.m. 911 HANG-UP, Post Hall. Public Safety Building reported a 911 hang-up call from a student cell phone. The student had accidentally dialed 911.
11:20 p.m. FIRE ALARM, Beta House. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a malfunction in the fire alarm system. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.
11:50 p.m. UNSECURED DOOR, Umbeck Science and Mathematics Center. Unsecured doors were found during a building check.
APRIL 19
9:22 p.m. 911 HANG-UP, Main Campus Grounds. GPD and Campus Safety responded to the emergency phone east of Post after receiving a 911 call. No problems were found in the area. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.
APRIL 20
12:15 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Sherwin. Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by a room detector. No apparent cause was found for the alarm activation.
7:15 a.m. MISCHIEVOUS CONDUCT, Seymour Hall. Posted, unauthorized fliers were removed.
5:12 p.m. INFORMATION, Sellew. Campus Safety responded to a report of a non-student in the dorm.
APRIL 21
2:05 a.m. NOISE, Hamblin. Campus Safety responded to a complaint of loud subjects.
2:10 a.m. ALCOHOL VIOLATION, Hamblin. An intoxicated, underage student was observed and assisted. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.
3:15 a.m. SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT, Drew. Campus Safety responded to a report of suspicious subjects in the area. The subjects were found to be visiting a student. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.
8:46 p.m. FIRE ALARM, 516 S. West. Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by a room detector. No apparent cause was found for the alarm activation.
APRIL 22
2:20 a.m. 911 HANG-UP, Post Hall. Public Safety Building reported a 911 hang-up call from a student cell phone. The student had accidentally dialed 911.
7:37 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Post Hall. Galesburg Fire Department (GFD) and Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by steam from a shower.
9:33 a.m. TROUBLE ALARM, Fleming Fieldhouse. Campus Safety responded to a trouble alarm activated by high water in the sub-basement area. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.
1:53 p.m. FIRE ALARM, Sigma Chi. GFD and Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by smoking in a student room. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.
SAFETY CONCERN/HAZARD, Sigma Chi. Covered detectors and other safety concerns were found during a fire alarm. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.
4:45 p.m. WELL-BEING CHECK, Main Campus Grounds. Campus Safety checked on the well-being of a student at the request of a family member.
APRIL 23
5:45 a.m. INFORMATION, Main Campus Grounds. A loud group of students were observed going across campus participating in a Flunk Day scare.
