GPD, Campus Safety seeking information about reported sexual assault

Campus SafetyIn a campus-wide email Sunday, Director of Campus Safety John Schlaf alerted the campus community of a sexual assault reported early Sunday morning, encouraging anyone with information about the incident to contact the Galesburg Police Department or Campus Safety.

According to the email, a male subject known to the female victim as a Knox student gained entry to the Hamblin Hall apartment around the hours of 3 and 4 a.m. Sunday through unlocked doors. A suspect initially identified has since been released by police investigators.

The incident is still pending further investigation.

Anyone with additional information about the incident or anyone who may have seen “questionable activity” around Hamblin Hall between 3 and 4 a.m. is encouraged to contact authorities:
