UPDATE: Student ‘removed from campus’ in sexual assault investigation

Campus SafetyA Hamblin Hall resident was “removed from campus” Tuesday evening in an ongoing investigation of a sexual assault reported early Sunday morning, according to an email update from Director of Campus Safety John Schlaf.

Early Sunday morning, a male subject known to the female victim as a Knox student gained entry to the Hamblin Hall apartment through unlocked apartment and room doors. A suspect initially identified by the victim was released by police Sunday.

On Tuesday afternoon, Galesburg police officials did not release any information to The Knox Student regarding the investigation, as it is ongoing and pending further questioning of the suspect.

Anyone with additional information about the incident or anyone who may have seen “questionable activity” around Hamblin Hall between 3 and 4 a.m. Sunday is encouraged to contact authorities:
