Senior men’s tennis player David Ham was named Midwest Conference Performer of the week after a pair of stellar performances for the Prairie Fire.
Ham defeated both of his opponents in matches against Eureka and Illinois Colleges last week without dropping a single game. Ham is 10-9 on the season, having now won three consecutive matches dating back to last month.
It was the second time a member of the team was named conference performer of the week, sophomore Walter Palmer having received the honor back in February.
Ham’s dominance was reflective of a solid team performance for the Prairie Fire.
Knox defeated both Eureka and Illinois College 9-0 without dropping a single set in the process.
Palmer leads the team with an 11-7 singles record this season and also has an 11-7 record in doubles matches with his partner and fellow sophomore Karl Ruzgas.
Ham and his partner, sophomore Jonathan Ng have also compiled a record over .500 this season, going 9-8 against their number two doubles opponents.
Knox is 7-12 this season and still has a shot to make it to the conference tournament at the end of May. The Prairie Fire are 1-1 against Midwest Conference opponents, and still have matches against Cornell and Monmouth remaining on the schedule.
