This weekend at Knox

Friday, Jan. 10

On Friday, the Lend A Hand Volunteer Fair will take place at 4 p.m. Students are welcome to come and learn about various volunteer organizations and opportunities, and to sign up for upcoming events. The event will be in the Lincoln and Skylight Rooms in Seymour Union.

Later in the evening, Union Board will be screening “The Great Gatsby” in Kresge Recital Hall. The movie will begin at 8 p.m.

Saturday, Jan. 11

Union Board will be taking students to Chestnut Mountain Resort in Galena, Ill. The group will leave Knox at 8:30 a.m. and return at 9 p.m. Tickets have been on sale in Seymour Union all week, and students going are encouraged to dress warmly and be prepared.

The Winter Jazz Series will kick off that evening with a performance by Brazilian guitarist Luciano Antonio. His quartet will perform in Kresge Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m.

All Weekend

Sorority Recruitment will continue throughout the weekend. The second round of recruitment will commence in SMC E-117 Friday night at 6:30 p.m.

She started working for TKS as a freshman and subsequently served as managing editor, co-news editor and co-mosaic editor. Kate is the recipient of four awards from the Illinois College Press Association for news and feature stories and one award from the Associated Collegiate Press. She won the Theodore Hazen Kimble Prize in 2015 and 2014 and the Ida M. Tarbell Prize in Investigate Journalism in 2014. She has interned at FILTER Magazine, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and WGIL radio and the Virginian-Pilot.
