Services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. for Knox graduate Lexie Kamerman ’08, who was killed Saturday in Afghanistan when Taliban gunmen entered a restaurant and started shooting civilians.
Kamerman will be remembered at Weinstein Funeral Home, located at 111 Skokie Blvd. in Wilmette, Ill.
Her legacy is that of a “deep thinker and a fearless advocate for a better world,” Chair of Environmental Studies Peter Schwartzman told Knox College.
While she was a student, Kamerman earned majors in Environmental Studies and Anthropology and Sociology. Later, she went on to acquire a Master of Arts in Higher Education. Kamerman had traveled to Afghanistan to work as a student development specialist for American University, helping to make it possible for the country’s young women to earn an education.
