Choir to go on Midwest tour

The Knox College Choir will tour around Illinois, Iowa and Minnesota to perform six free concerts over the course of spring break. They will also perform twice in Galesburg—see full schedule below.

This is in keeping with their tradition of touring annually. Past tours have included destinations like England, Austria, the Czech Republic and Spain. Next year, they will tour in Italy.

Singers will present a variety of songs, including sacred, folk and contemporary pieces.

Performance schedule:

  • Sunday, March 2 at 3 p.m.: First Christian Church, Galesburg, Ill.
  • Monday, March 17 at 7:30 p.m.: First Presbyterian Church, Iowa City, Iowa
  • Tuesday, March 18 at 7:30 p.m.: St. Anne’s Church, Le Sueur, Minn.
  • Wednesday, March 19 at 7:30 p.m.: St. Mary’s Church, St. Paul, Minn.
  • Thursday, March 20 at 7:30 p.m.: Wildwood Presbyterian Church, Grayslake, Ill.
  • Saturday, March 22 at 7:30 p.m.: Divine World International, Techny, Ill.
  • Sunday, March 23 at 3 p.m.: Westminster Presbyterian Church, Rockford, Ill.
  • Friday, March 28 at 7:30 p.m.: Kresge Recital Hall, Knox College, Galesburg, Ill.
Chelsea Embree
Chelsea Embree is a senior majoring in creative writing and minoring in art history. She previously served as co-mosaic editor and as an arts and features reporter for TKS. During the summer of 2013, she served as a content intern at The St. Louis Beacon. Chelsea has studied under former Random House copy chief Sean Mills and taught writing as a teaching assistant for First-Year Preceptorial. An avid blogger, she has written extensively about youth in St. Louis and maintains a lively poetry and nonfiction blog on Tumblr. She is also the director of communications for Mortar Board and co-president of Terpsichore Dance Collective.
