Campus Safety Log: Sewer gas in SMC

Feb. 18

2:57 p.m., THEFT, SMC — An investigation was opened regarding missing AV equipment.

Feb. 15

11:45 p.m., NOISE/ALCOHOL VIOLATION, Seymour Hall — Campus Safety discovered underage alcohol consumption while responding to a noise complaint. The alcohol was confiscated, non-residents were asked to leave and the incident was referred to the Office of Student Development.

7:29 p.m., INFORMATION, Seymour Library — Campus Safety was requested by library staff to assist in notifying a subject of library rules and regulations regarding computers.

11:55 a.m., SAFETY HAZARD, Post Hall — A smoke detector was found covered during a lock-out request. The incident was referred to OSD.

Feb. 14

1:09 p.m., INFORMATION, off-campus location — Campus Safety was asked to document possible criminal activity that involved a student prior to that student’s enrollment at the college.

Feb. 11

9:57 p.m., INFORMATION, SMC — Campus Safety and the Galesburg Fire Department responded to a report of a strong natural gas odor. Ameren determined the odor was from sewer gas.

9:10 a.m., TROUBLE ALARM, Hamblin Hall — Campus Safety responded to an alarm caused by a carbon monoxide detector. A work order was submitted.

Feb. 9

12:57 p.m., DOMESTIC — Campus Safety was notified of a domestic situation on campus between two students that occurred sometime during fall term. The situation is still under investigation.
