Friday’s events invite students to see, laugh, dance

“Sunday Fun-day” might have a nice ring to it, but Friday — especially this one — is quickly closing in as the most fun day of the week. There’s a lot happening on campus and in Galesburg. Take a look:

Events

The Black Earth Film Festival will be continuing at Cherry Street at 6:30 p.m. More about that here.

“In the Next Room,” this term’s main stage theatre production, will also perform again at 7:30 p.m. in Harbach Theatre. Check out what TKS’ theatre reviewer thought of the show.

At 8 p.m., Alpha Sigma Alpha and The Burrow theme house will be joining up to sponsor a Yule Ball in the Oak Room. There will be Harry Potter–themed booths, games, activities and food, as well as a costume contest and a dancing contest. Admission is $5 at the door.

At 8:30 p.m., Budde’s Pizza will be hosting “Comedy Loco…l,” which will feature the comedy acts of residents of Galesburg. Those under the age of 21 are welcome to attend until the kitchen closes at 10:30 p.m. Budde’s is located at 425 E. Main St.

Submissions

“Catch” will be accepting submissions for their spring issue until midnight on Friday. The staff encourages students to send fiction, poetry, analytical and creative nonfiction, music, art and products of any other genre imaginable. Submissions may be sent via campus mail to K-1720, dropped off at the publications office in Seymour Union or emailed to catchmag@knox.edu.
