Campus Safety Log: Intentional fire, bike theft

May 17

12:15 a.m., INTENTIONAL FIRE, 284 W. Tompkins St. — Campus Safety and GFD responded to a fire alarm caused by an unwarranted discharge of a fire extinguisher. The incident was referred to OSD.

May 16

7:32 p.m., SAFETY HAZARD, SMC — Campus Safety and Ameren responded to a report of a natural gas leak. The report was confirmed, and a work order was submitted.

May 15

1 p.m., SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT, off-campus location — Campus Safety and GPD responded to a report of a person making statements via Facebook messages to a student about self-harm and harm to others. An arrest was made off campus, and safety precautions were implemented.

12:45 p.m., BURGLARY, CFA — Campus Safety responded to a report of stolen property from a college building. A police report was taken, and an investigation was opened.

2 a.m., MISCHIEVOUS CONDUCT, Phi Gamma Delta — Campus Safety and GPD made contact with members of Phi Gamma Delta regarding a report of disorderly conduct at an off-campus location. The incident was referred to OSD.

12:37 p.m., SEXUAL ASSAULT, Sigma Chi — Campus Safety opened an investigation into an allegation of sexual assault that took place in a residential unit in November 2013 between persons known to each other.

May 13

5 p.m., THEFT — Campus Safety responded to a report of a bike theft.

6:05 p.m., ACCIDENTIAL FIRE ALARM, 240 W. Tompkins St. — Campus Safety and GFD responded to a fire alarm caused by a water leak.
