Sophomore Bruce earns MWC swimming honors

GALESBURG, ILL. — Prairie Fire swimmer sophomore Madeline Bruce was named Midwest Conference Women’s Swimming Performer of the Week after a strong start to the season. Last weekend Bruce dominated in a meet at Illinois College. She won three wins in individual events, including the 200 meter butterfly and backstroke and the 400 meter individual medley. Bruce also anchored the team in their victory of the 200 meter freestyle relay. Knox performed well at the meet Saturday, beating hosts Illinois College and Principia College. Both Knox swim teams will compete in the home meet this Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Lay Natatorium. Eureka College will be visiting the Prairie Fire to compete in the dual.  (Knox College Sports Information)

Monmouth beats Knox in 126 playing of Turkey Bowl

MONMOUTH, ILL. — The offense was shut down Saturday as Monmouth College won the Turkey Bowl over Knox. The final score was 33-2 as Knox’s only points came off of a blocked extra point attempt returned for a safety. Knox hosts Beloit College next weekend as part of the Midwest Conference Championship Week. Both Knox and Beloit finished with a 2-7 overall record and went winless in their conference matchups. Chuck Porter Open kicks off Knox wrestling season

GALESBURG, ILL. — The Knox Prairie Fire wrestling team competed for the first time Sunday in the Chuck Porter invitational, named after the class of ’52 alumnus. Senior Greg Ventris placed fifth in his 174 pound competition. Ventris is also serving as co-captain this year. Freshman Jackson Faulkner won his first round match in the 137 pound section.
