At the Fighting Scots indoor meet last weekend, sophomore Rebecca Katz finished in first place in the women’s 3000-meter run with a time of 11:20.99. Her finish was good enough to move up to fourth on the Knox All-Time Top Ten record list.
The rest of the track team performed well at the meet as well. Freshman Val Varanese nearly set the all-time record in the 60-meter dash for the second weekend in a row with a time of 8.19 seconds.
On the men’s side, sophomore Shadrack Ofori-Boadi and freshman Malik Hamilton finished back to back in the men’s 60-meter run with times of 7.35 and 7.37. The performance was good enough to move Hamilton up to fourth on the all-time Top Ten list.
The track and field teams have one more chance this weekend at the University of Illinois Invitational to tune up before the Indoor Midwest Conference Championships on Feb. 26 and 27.
