Editors go on #FlunkHunt

TKS Editor-in-Chief Casey Mendoza, Photo Editor Clara Conover, Copyeditor Karli Shields and senior Michelle Secunda drove around Galesburg to find unmarked trucks and Flunk Day clues.

The group found at least two unmarked trucks, but Flunk Day wasn’t the next day. You can watch their drive through town below; it was originally livestreamed through Facebook Live.

Casey Mendoza
Casey Mendoza is a senior majoring in political science and double minoring in philosophy and Chinese. This is her fourth year working at The Knox Student, previously as a photographer and photo editor. Casey is the recipient of two awards from the Illinois College Press Association for photo essays. During the summer of 2014, Casey also worked as a photography intern for the Galesburg Register-Mail, covering local community events and working alongside award-winning reporters and photojournalists. During the winter and spring of 2015, Casey studied journalism and new media in Washington DC, learning more about the world's political arena, networking and gaining a greater understanding of the field. There, she worked as a Production Assistant at a documentary film company, The Biscuit Factory. During the summer of 2015, Casey will help produce a documentary on airline reservation technology for the Airlines Reporting Corporation (ARC).
Clara Conover, Co-Photo Editor
Clara Conover is a senior majoring in Studio Art and minoring in Art History and Computer Science. This is her first year working for TKS as a photographer and as a co-photo editor. In the summer of 2014, she was a photography Intern at SIU School of Medicine in the Communications & Publications Office.
Karli Shields, Copy Editor
Karli Shields is a junior majoring in creative writing with prospective minors in film studies and playwriting. This is her first year copyediting for The Knox Student. Karli also works as a writing tutor and editor for Quiver literary magazine. She has a love/hate relationship with Oxford commas.
