Letter to the Editor: I was cis-sexist and I am sorry

In my Discourse column published on March 8, 2017, titled “Discussing the femininity of bodies week,” I used asterisks (*) to distinguish the terms “queer” and “trans” as umbrella terms. The asterisks imply that binary trans and queer persons are the norm and all else has to be specifically mentioned in order to be included. I apologize for this cis-centered and cis-sexist wording.
