Senior forward Kayla Brown helped the Prairie Fire continue their conference dominance on Monday, scoring first in the women’s game against Illinois College, in which the team triumphed 2-0 to extend their record to 7-0 so far against Midwest Conference opponents.
Brown has posted three straight games of one goal and two points, raising her averages for the season to .75 and and 1.5 per game respectively.
Last year, Brown lead the fire with 18 goals and nine assists, leaving her with 45 points, 69 shots on goal and a shooting percentage of .176. This year, she increased her shooting percentage to .222, with 37 shots on goal, becoming more consistent and dynamic in scoring.
As for the entire season, Brown has scored in all but six of the Fire’s games this season and twice in two of them. She joins a five-woman group of seniors poised to continue in their dominant ways.
The Prairie Fire looks ahead to playing St. Norbert on Saturday, and can hopefully use their dynamic game play and teamwork to take a win and host the conference tournament.
