Senior Morgan Potter has been leading her team on the court with her exemplary performances against Cornell and rival Monmouth.
Potter almost shot 100% from the floor against the Rams and she made five out of her six field goals. At the charity stripe she buried seven out of her eight free throws. Against the Fighting Scots she was the leading scorer for the Prairie Fire with 12 points, and going four for six at the free throw line.
Potter had been putting up All-Midwest Conference numbers before the Prairie Fire began their conference play. During the women’s trip to California, Potter posted amazing stats against Pomona-Pitzer, with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Against the Regals of California Lutheran she scored 12 points and grabbed four rebounds.
She has been a defensive mismatch when it comes to teams playing “Man to Man” defense (when every player on the court guards each other). Potter has had many games in double figures throughout the course of 2019. Against the St. Norbert Green Knights in January, Potter scored 12 points and snagged 12 rebounds. She dismantled Lake Forest with 22 points and she only missed one free throw, going seven for eight. Morgan is an excellent back to the basket player but she can shoot it from the three also. Morgan is averaging 12.5 points and six rebounds throughout the first month of the year. The Fire will host Illinois College on Feb. 13 at 5:30 p.m.
