CAMPUS SAFETY LOG

October 20 to October 26

OCTOBER 20

9:55 a.m. LOST OR MISPLACED ITEM, Main Campus Grounds. Keys were reported as lost.

10:50 a.m. MEDICAL, Old Main. A student was transported for the treatment of an illness.

12:45 p.m. THEFT, Raub House. A bike was stolen from the bike rack outside of Raub.

11 p.m. NOISE, Drew House. Campus Safety responded to a complaint of loud music.

OCTOBER 21

7:35 pm. 911 HANG UP, 251 S. West. Public Safety Building reported a 911 hang up call from the emergency phone. A search of the area was made and no problems were found.

9:40 p.m. ALCOHOL VIOLATION, Ford Center for the Fine Arts. A Campus Safety officer observed a student with open alcohol in the ceramics studio. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

OCTOBER 22

6:50 a.m. FOUND PROPERTY, Auxiliary Gym. A purse found in the gym was turned in to Campus Safety.

4:15 p.m. SAFETY CONCERN/HAZARD, Neifert Hall. Campus Safety Officer checking a power outage found that a laptop power adaptor had overheated, damaging an outlet. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.

6:10 p.m. WELL BEING CHECK, Main Campus Grounds. Campus Safety checked on a student’s well being at the request of other students. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

OCTOBER 23

3:13 a.m. 911 HANG UP, Old Main. Public Safety Building reported a 911 hang up from a room in Old Main. The building was checked and no problems were found.

OCTOBER 24

2:05 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Conger. Galesburg Fire Department, Galesburg Police Department and Campus Safety responded to an alarm activated by a pull station. No reason was found for the alarm activation.

2:10 a.m. ATTEMPTED BURGLARY, Phi Gamma Delta-218 S. Cedar. Galesburg Police Department and Campus Safety responded to a report of an attempted break-in.

4 a.m. MEDICAL, Raub House. Campus Safety responded to a request for assistance with an ill student. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

4:25 p.m. FIRE ALARM, Seymour Hall. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a heat detector malfunction. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.

OCTOBER 25

12:35 a.m. CANNABIS VIOLATION, Sherwin. Campus Safety officers on patrol observed a student with a pipe containing cannabis outside Sherwin. The matter was referred to the Office of Student Development.

5:55 a.m. CRIMINAL DAMAGE, Main Campus Grounds. Graffiti spray was painted on the cement base of stands. A work order was submitted to have the graffiti removed.

10:21 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Phi Gamma Delta-218 S. Cedar. Galesburg Fire Department and Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a dirty detector. A work order was submitted to correct the problem.

11:53 a.m. 911 HANG UP, Old Main. Public Safety Building reported a 911 hang up from a room in Old Main. The building was checked and no problems were found.

11:30 p.m. 911 HANG UP, Campbell House. Public Safety reported a 911 hang up from the outside emergency phone. Campus Safety checked the area and no problems were found.

OCTOBER 26

9:10 a.m. FIRE ALARM, Sellew House. Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm activated by a room detector. No cause was found for the alarm activation.

10 a.m. INFORMATION, Umbeck Science and Mathematics Center. A stuffed snowy owl specimen was removed from room B207, possibly sometime during Spring Term 2009.
