Letters to the editor: Thanks for TKE article

Hello,

I wanted to commend you for your bravery and honesty. It takes a lot of courage to stand up and expose an institution that is well-respected, or at least well-liked, in society, and although I want to think of these wrong-doings as simply alien to me ("Well, it was committed by some dumb frat brothers, not me") these are students that were accepted by Knox College, seen as academically and socially fit, and were chosen to be my peers. To think that these students treat their fellow human beings this way is appalling.

I have always wanted to believe that Knox was doing its best to eliminate racism, sexism, homophobia, and all the evils of the world, but I can see that like any ideal participants, we have a long way to go if we want to achieve these goals. If we want to progress ourselves as peoples of the world, we ourselves need to believe in the conviction that wrong is wrong, no matter how much easier it may be to brush wrongful acts off as humorous or “not extreme.”

These acts prove to me that even Knox has a lot to learn about the righteousness of treating someone in a respectful manner.

Thank you again for speaking out on these issues. Nothing can be changed if we don't first expose the truth.
