I am so proud of those who participated in the huge celebration after Obama’s victory last Tuesday aptly titled “Obamaramanomenon!” In those moments, I was glad I had chosen to attend a small college: I walked, screamed, and danced not with a crowd of strangers, but with classmates, friends, and loved ones.

Let me say that while the event was spontaneous, its genesis was more complex than hundreds of people simultaneously deciding to march ...

I strongly disagree with the 24-hour library initiative, and with a few of the claims in last week's "Thoughts from the Embers" which discussed why this would be a positive change.

The column claimed that the change "could...save energy by encouraging students to study together [in the library]." I presume the argument behind this is that since students will not be in their rooms with their lights on, they will be saving energy ...

Ironically, similar generalizations are the root of the stereotypes employed as justification for discrimination. Noting this, I have tried to focus on one step towards ending discrimination: admitting our ignorance.

In our society, there is intense pressure to ...

Professor Louis Harrison, Jr. will present a lecture twice today, Thursday Oct. 9, entitled “Redefine the Finish Line: Repositioning African Americans in Sport and Physical Activity.” You can hear it first at 4 p.m. in the Round Room in CFA, and at 7 p.m. in the Memorial Gym.

The impetus for the invitation to Harrison may have come from a sports column printed last February in TKS. The column made many claims based ...
