Letters to the editor: CFA landscaping

Last week’s TKS article concerning the current CFA landscaping project [“Out with the old, in with the new”] warrants clarification. While it's true that the Campus Environment Committee endorsed the project, we did so only with many reservations and suggested alterations. In fact, CEC had only 90 minutes to study the plan. The same was true for the admissions office, which had similar concerns. That said, we were told that $15, 000 - 30,000 had suddenly become available, but that the project had to be completed by commencement. Under these circumstances, we felt compelled to endorse the plan, warts and all (especially it's failure to consider passive solar effects), with the firm assurance that we could introduce important modifications at a later date. We can only hope for the best.
