With Americans still reeling from the results of last week’s election, the TKS staff thought it worth pausing to consider not what could happen, but what is happening in small-town America.

When the announcement was made that Barack Obama would be taking his place as our next President, Knox students partied in the streets and went to classes (or didn’t) the next day with bleary eyes and tired smiles. Obama said that electing ...

I am so proud of those who participated in the huge celebration after Obama’s victory last Tuesday aptly titled “Obamaramanomenon!” In those moments, I was glad I had chosen to attend a small college: I walked, screamed, and danced not with a crowd of strangers, but with classmates, friends, and loved ones.

This is a wonderful idea, and yet a small consortium of students is adamantly working against ...

I went to bed in a state of euphoria last Tuesday night. At last, the moment I had been waiting eight years for had come — Obama had won! Both the House and Senate had a democratic majority! Things were finally going to change!

Nothing could ruin my happiness. And so, when my boyfriend pointed out that it looked like California was going to ban gay marriage (after legalizing it), I blew him off. “It’s ...
