Board of Publications reaches verdict in Fucoloro hearing

The Broadcast, Internet and Publications Board [BIP] has reached a verdict after the hearing held for senior Tom Fucoloro, former editor-in-chief of The Knox Student.

The BIP received a formal complaint from the Student Life Committee [SLC] against Fucoloro after he published an editorial which used information obtained off the record at a SLC meeting. Next year’s freshman class is taking shape with 414 students accepting admission to Knox College in the fall.

Applications increased 13% over last year, and 64.9% of them were admitted. This year’s class is generally closer to the top of their high school classes compared to last year’s freshmen class, though their test scores were not as high. This legislation is supported by college and university administrations that ascribe to many of the arguments and positions voiced by John McCardell, the former president of Middlebury College, and current director of chooseresponsibility.org.

President to sign environmental declaration

President Roger Taylor has promised to sign a Knox-specific version of the Talloires Declaration by the end of the year.

The Talloires Declaration was drafted in 1990 by college and university presidents, promising to show leadership in and dedication to sustainability. According to University Leaders for a Sustainable Future, the “Secretariat for signatories of the Talloires Declaration,” the document has been signed in more than 40 countries by more than 350 university presidents.

Students arrested for changing SMC bathroom signs

The two were replacing the signs with gender neutral ones when Campus Safety found them and called the GPD.

A pair of students were arrested by the police in SMC for theft, vandalism and destruction of property last Thursday.

The students in question had unscrewed and removed bathroom signs in Old Main and SMC when a Campus Safety officer found them and demanded to search their bag.
