The Knox Student

Class of 2009 "right on track"

Vice President for Enrollment and Dean of Admissions Paul Steenis predicts that next year’s incoming class will meet Knox’s goal of 400 students.

Next year’s freshman class is taking shape with 414 students accepting admission to Knox College in the fall.

Applications increased 13% over last year, and 64.9% of them were admitted. This year’s class is generally closer to the top of their high school classes compared to last year’s freshmen class, though their test scores were not as high. More minority students from the US were accepted than last year, and 42% of the incoming class is from Illinois.

“Anticipating that six to eight percent of students who submit deposits won’t enroll in the fall (a.k.a “summer melt”) and that we will receive another 10-15 deposits between now and the first week of June, it appears that we are right on track to achieve the college’s goal of 400 new students in the fall class,” said Steenis in an e-mail.
