Knox’s Student Senate is a great asset to the student body in a number of ways, chief among which is the fact that senate is always open to student suggestions. Our six standing committees — Finance, Campus Outreach, Campus Life, Sustainability, Technology, Dining Services — consider student comments and suggestions about many aspects of Knox year-round in an effort to make this place we call home the place that we want it to be.
In an effort to better address student ideas and concerns, as well as to make senate even more approachable for the student body, I will begin holding office hours once a week in the senate office (downstairs in the Seymour Union, right next door to the Taylor Lounge). This will be a great opportunity for students from across campus to stop by the office, chat with a senator, and charge Executive Board members with anything they would like to see changed at Knox. Whether you have an idea on how to increase communication between senate and the general student body, a solution for the long lines in the Hard Knox Café, or a suggestion on how to make Knox a more sustainable campus, these office hours will allow you to let senate know what you’re thinking and to have a hand in implementing real change on our campus.
Office hours will be on Wednesdays from 4 to 5 p.m. in the senate office. Charge forms will be available directly outside the Senate office — feel free to pick one up at any time, fill it out and either bring it to office hours or slide it under the office door. Exec looks forward to hearing your charges. I’ll see you on Wednesday!
