Knox’s Film Freak

Film, like all things, is prey to subjectivity. No two people see the same movie. Sure, you and I may enjoy the same movie for the same reasons, but we are not watching the same film. And yet we are. The good, the bad and the ugly are all opinions. Unfortunately, that leaves us back at the start, at zero, zip, nada. So, what’re we to do? Luckily, there are conventions, those pretty little things that let us separate A from B from C and so on. A good movie is a good movie for certain reasons, even if those reasons are just the result of opinions, and no one likes disappointment. What I propose is this: each week I’ll fill you in on what’s good, what’s bad and what’s up from the classics to what’s in theaters, from directors to actors to viewers like you, with techniques and tips from filmmakers and writers, keeping an eye out so you don’t have to worry your pretty little head. Sound good? Glad to hear it.
