Knox Sports Briefs

Football—Football has had their best season in a long time this year. At their homecoming game, they fell to Cornell by one point. The final score was 51-52, and Knox put up a great fight. senior Matt McCaffrey finished with 337 passing yards and junior Malik Hamilton led the Fire with 121 yards receiving They look to defeat rival Monmouth College on Nov. 4.

Women’s Soccer—The women’s soccer team has experienced much success this season. They remain undefeated in conference and tied with St. Norbert on the 28th. Due to tiebreaker rules, the Fire won’t host the conference tournament. They will play Grinnell for the start of the tournament on Friday Nov. 3 in De Pere, Wis., hosted by Norbert.

Swimming and Diving —The women competed at Augustana on Oct 28. They fell to Augustana 178-27 and Millikin 117-66. Sylvie Bowen-Bailey placed fourth with her finish in the women’s 100 butterfly with a time of 1:18.45. Both women’s 200 freestyle relays placed third, with times of 2:04.47 and 2:15.36. The Fire will compete at Illinois College on Nov 4.

Men’s soccer —The men’s team achieved their goal of hosting the conference tournament. They tied with St. Norbert 0-0. Justin Dunn finished with seven saves and Jun Min had four shots on goal, the most for the Fire that game. The men will play the first game of the tournament against Grinnell College at home on Friday Nov. 3.
