Player of the Week

Senior Paul Sanders was named to the All-Central Region Third Team this past Monday, May 22. The outfielder was named to the All-Midwest Conference South Division team last week as well.

Sanders led all of Division III baseball with his 38 stolen bases. With Sanders’ help, the Prairie Fire ended up getting 112 stolen bases, shattering their previous team record of 79 stolen bases. This figure was good for second in conference history. Sanders also broke the school career records with his personal numbers in stolen bases and runs scored, 117.

Sanders was a powerful player for the Fire and helped them achieve their 11 wins this season. With an overall batting average of .354, it was no wonder that he started 32 of the Fire’s 35 games this season. The Fire completed their season on May 6 with their game against Illinois College and will look ahead to next spring for more improvement, but will certainly miss the graduating Sanders.
