Player of the Week

Senior Rosie Medina has been a huge asset to the Prairie Fire during her time on the team. This past weekend, Medina was named the Midwest Conference Offensive Performer of the Week as she helped the Fire reach a pair of wins. Medina first scored the game-tying and game-winning goals in a 3-2 win over Ripon College, and then earned two assists in the Fire’s 4-1 victory over St. Norbert.

This season, Medina has been more aggressive and has already had more attempts on goal than all of last season. With one goal, three assists and a shots on goal percentage of .667, Medina has shown immense improvement from last season overall. With the Fire’s record of 5-2-2, and an undefeated conference record so far, it is clear that Medina has been contributing significantly to the success of the team.

In the 2017 season, Medina had a .200 shooting percentage and a .600 shots on goal percentage. With one goal, four assists, six points and five shots, it is clear that Medina has taken on a larger role this season. She has nearly beaten all of her statistics from last year within the first nine games of this season over the 22 games the Fire played last season.

The women will take on Grinnell College on Saturday, Oct. 6 at Grinnell. They will look to keep their undefeated conference record and Medina will continue to work on her offensive efforts to lead the Fire to success.
